replacing glass on watch - any recommendations

I've had the same watch for about 10 years a ladies pulsar, cost £60 new. Glass is now cracked. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get it fixed? I don't mind sending it off. The local keycutting place quoted £70 and said they'd need to send it off, but wondering if there is anywhere cheaper? otherwise I think I will have to buy a new watch

I’d pop into H samuels or somewhere & ask. Sometimes the larger chains that do frequent repairs are cheaper.

Have a look at Watch Doctors. I have not used them, but I looked at them recently. In the end I used a local place.

It's possible to do it yourself. You can buy the new crystal and glue online.

I always use Timpsons for watch repairs. I like to give them my business when I can because I like their ethos. Their's a Timpsons kiosk at our local Tesco and they've had lots of my business because I've got lots of watches.

Thanks for all the replies - I tried a few places (one place wanted to service it as well and quoted £160) and have ended up going for Timpsons (which was actually the place I'd tried originally). £70! but have persuaded myself that getting something repaired is good for the planet and therefore preferable to just buying a new watch

@Asteric > Is that price just for a one-off repair? Because when I get my watch batteries replaced at Timpsons it's expensive, but the price covers life-time replacement.

Asteric · 08/05/2024 20:50

@itsnotmeitsu i think just one off yes

I got HS to repair my husband's watch. Expensive and took months. (Accurist.)

This firm fixed my Pulsar for me. Very reasonable. They have a postal service. https://www.winskisofkinross.co.uk/
