Autistic DD is getting married and wants a non traditional wedding dress. She's after a long, floaty, embroidered chiffony type dress. We don't have the first clue as to where to start looking. Any suggestions before she ends up buying something of Shein and looking like a 5 year old doing dress up? Needs to be a larger size.

Here's some pictures she's sent me of what she likes.

These are all fantastic suggestions. I'm beginning to have hope of steering her away from cosplaying her favourite disney princess outfit.

Im sorry but you sound really rude about your daughter. It's her wedding day.

palmroyale · 06/05/2024 15:00

I agree with @Andnowshesatoddler

You sound very rude about your daughter. Those photos of dresses she likes are all lovely.

It's her wedding day. Not yours. You sound like an utter snob

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/05/2024 16:36

They're the nice ones she's sent me. You wouldn't be saying the same if you saw the one she was about to buy. She's asking for my input because she's autistic and aware that sometimes her clothes choices result in people laughing at her and humiliating her. She knows I will tell her the truth. So when I tell her she looks amazing she knows she looks amazing and I'm not just being a polite.

If that makes me a snob then I guess I'm a snob. But thanks for the lovely helpful websites you suggested, they were really useful.

Couldn't care less if you was a snob or not, my issue is how your speaking about your daughter.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/05/2024 16:52

Still nothing helpful to add then. Just want to call me names and stick the boot in. Nothing better to do?

My DD was about to buy a £24.99 adult sized Anastasia costume 4 sizes too small for her from a party supplies website. But I'm being a snob for seeking advice on where she can find something better for her wedding day. Always an education on Mumsnet.

My sister is getting married and there was a GORGEOUS colourful floral embroidered dress in her bridal shop. They are out there.

Allure do a Bridgerton range that your DD may like. There’s also Solo Bridal on FB, you can send them ideas of what you’re looking for and they do a design for you, my friend got her dress from them and it was beautiful.

BR1006

Ready the smelling salts and start fluttering your fans, gentle readers — this A-line gown is sure to make you swoon! Ivory, mauve and eggshell blue embroidered blooms trail across translucent tulle and accent the gown's detachable bishop sleeves.
