Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help. My daughters (1 and 2.5) will not let me use a hairdryer. I never have 5 consecutive minutes to blast my head dry, let alone properly style it. But even if I did, if they're asleep they wake up and if they're awake they freak out from the noise and break into uncontrollable tears. My hair is straightish light brown with a little grey. My question is: can you recommend a product I can put on wet hair to make it look nice and sleek when it dries naturally? Thanks for your wisdom 🙏 PS. Do you know the scarecrows' wedding? I look like Betty o Barley 🤦🏻‍♀️

Do not let your children control your life. I have, and I regret it now.

FeatheryStroker · 06/05/2024 07:28

I mean I wouldn't do it when they were asleep if I know they were going to be disturbed but they are just going to have to freak out if you want to dry your hair. They will have to get used to it.

Don't let your children dictate if you use a hairdryer. They'll have to get used to it.

Just dry your hair with a hairdryer.

VeraForever · 06/05/2024 08:11

Just carry on using the hairdryer.

I never use a hairdryer either Percy and reed wonderbalm (expensive but is often in beauty calendars) then I leave it to dry in a pineapple knot. Aveda leave in conditioner is pretty good too.

My ds has this hair dryer and it’s really quiet. I’d keep using a hair dryer but in the furthest room away even if that means hair drying in the kitchen!

hockityponktas · 06/05/2024 08:25

Just use the hairdryer. They will get over it🤷‍♀️

Dyson dryer is quiet and quick. Since getting that my DC don't mind me drying mine!

I also have a speedy blowdry spray by Cloud Nine. With that and the Dyson I can dry my hair in 5 minutes.

Thanks everyone! I realise now my question should have been phrased do you know any good products for air drying and kept my story to myself. I forgot people are often quick to offer advice informed by their own experiences - hell I do it too sometimes. In this instance I was only after a product but if I ever want to end the evil tyranny of my children I know I can turn to Mumsnet.

Try almost everything cream by Hershesons, on damp hair.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/05/2024 21:25

Aveeda leave in conditioner and Percy and Reid No Oil oil work well for me, I don't use a hair dryer in the summer.

Moonshine5 · 07/05/2024 21:32

OP on a serious note, people comment because you mentioned it and it does sound weird - how do a 3 and 1 year old influence your drying choices.
Hope the solutions work out for you.
