Colour corrections

Has anyone here ever had to go down the route of getting a colour correction done?

I showed my hair stylist a reference picture of a balayage that I wanted in my hair. I went in with no colour in my hair before.

What I ended up with was something very different. I didn't see it at first. It took me a week to examine my hair. I love the colour but the placement is all wrong.

It looks like I got inches of a dip dye look from my ear down to my ends.

I shared the picture on a hair group I am on and my hair looks nothing like the reference picture and there's no blending going on in my hair.

My hair looks good tied up but it's looking awful when it's down because there's a harsh demarcation line.

This leaves me in a terrible position because I like my stylist a person. I don't know if I should go back to him and ask for better blending or an all over colour or if I should go to a different salon who offers colour corrections.

I can't wear my hair down as it is. It looks awful. I didn't see it straight away because when my stylist did my hair he curled my hair and I didn't see the line.

What would you all do?

It was recommended to me on a hair group to not go back to the stylist for fixing it because he may not know how to fix it. It was recommended that I need more blending. Either highlights or teasylights or baby lights or root smudge or a combination of them.

I either need to go back to my original stylist or get a colour correction at another salon. I think I am leaning towards going to another salon.

I am too embarrassed to show my hair in a picture right now. It looks bad.

I think you need to show a picture if you want an answer, and you’ve already showed it to others.

I am not available for taking pictures right now. It does look bad. I love the colour and I came wear my hair up but wearing it down is hard no. I am going to need more blending. This looks awful as it is.

I am stuck between going back to my stylist or going for a colour correction in another salon. I like my hairdresser and he does say he's a colour master but my god, my request really was too much.

This was my reference picture.

This is not my picture. I found it online.

I got a colour placement result like this:

It looks like a colour block dip dye. There's a vibrant rich yellow over my vibrant lower half of the hair.

I love the colour but I can't wear my hair down like this. It looks awful.

I got a colour result like this.

It looks horrific wearing my hair down.

What I could do is wear my hair up for the next year or so until it all grows out. And if I need to wear my hair down I could curl it but I don't know about that. I would be embarrassed getting out of bed with my hair down.

I think what likely happened what that he turned the lower part of my light brown hair right into a platinum and there was no need for that. I never saw how light my stylist got my hair to but I think I am a platinum under my vibrant colour. A warmer blonde would have been more that enough I think.

There's too much of a harsh line for me at the back of my hair.

Ok, this is the result I have. It's awful. The line at the back is very blunt. I never asked for this. I showed a picture of a balayage with looks blended.

I liked my hairdresser as a person too but I don't feel comfortable going back to him. Should I get in touch with him and see if he can fix it or go elsewhere for a colour correction. Surely he would have had an idea of what's involved in carrying out a balayage and colour. But This? How could he let leave with this.

I think the question should be, why did you leave like this?

Did you not get shown it in a mirror when it was done?

Even to my untrained eye - its horrendous - looks green in places

Ive had one bad colour, showed on the first wash, I took photos , sent to hairdresser and was straight back in for a correction at no cost

Darling, what on Earth did you expect? The reference is awful in itself, and why did you leave looking like that?
