Light long sleeved tops for summer

I have developed lymphoedema after breast cancer surgery and have to wear a compression sleeve. (You can get patterned ones but it’s early days and my prescription keeps changing so don’t want to invest ££ until it settles down.) I started wearing the sleeve in autumn and am used to it now but am a bit miserable about summer clothes. Can I ask for your suggestions for either general styles or, ideally, specific tops you’ve seen that are long sleeved, natural fabrics but light weight? My style is simple with a feminine or quirky edge. I’m 5ft 9, 51, and a M&S 14 all over. I have super short hair post chemo so feel I look too utilitarian without a bit of softness somewhere in the outfit. For reference, I recently bought this blouse which I love but I need some cheaper and more every day things too. Thank you.

I find jumpsuits extremely unflattering for anyone over a 14. They make the wearer’s middle look thick and shapeless.

I think it's down to height more (as long as it's long enough to not be muff hugging!).

I like French Connection's popover shirts. Nice and loose-fitting for hot days, but they curve in at the back so not too shapeless. They have a range of plain colours and patterns.

I have to wear long sleeves in summer after having skin cancer removed from my arm so thanks for starting this thread OP. And wishing you all the best.

Hi OP,

So sorry to learn about your cancer, but thankful that you’ve had / are getting treatment. I work in a surgical oncology unit so I feel for you 💗

You could have a look at French brand Leon & Harper — I recently purchased many tops on discount, in similar style.

good luck Xx

You 'made' me order this Stories blouse, and it arrived last night - it is gorgeous, thank you for tip.

I’ve got a couple of pretty tops from Love and Roses at Next in the past.
