Has anyone bought from Shein - and what was the quality like?

Prices seem so low....

Considering how many brands have turned out to be ordering stuff from SHEIN factories (Zara and Jaded London off the top of my head) I don’t really know that it is much worse than high street shopping!

Infuriating but no one is providing plus size products like shein. They offer so much than the high street does for us fat women!

This exactly, the high street is just cold shoulder or boring floral patterns, most of the clothes I've bought from Shein have been well made, fashionable patterns and colours and that fit me.

Not too bothered by them not being that great for recycling as I suspect a lot of the stuff passed on is disposed of by the charities anyway.

Unfortunately not. Charities can't shift it

They repeatedly steal designs of small independent fashion brands. Everything comes in a little plastic bag too so the amount of waste they generate and raw materials they use is massive.

Agree that's really disappointing. And Mangos collaboration with VB also disappointing regards sizes Confused

Yep, there was a program some time ago about it. A lot of the stuff wasnt suitable for their shops and was being sold on by weight.
They visited some African market where there was a container full of charity and high street clothes that the street traders were flogging.

So adding more to the carbon footprint. Sad

NashvilleQueen · 01/05/2024 13:51

I agree on the plus size stuff. I've not yet ordered but downloaded the app and there is really nice stuff in larger sizes (which may not be as nice in reality I accept). So much ethical stuff doesn't go above a size 16

JadeSheep · 01/05/2024 14:01

Guys, thank you so much for all the replies! I've read through and am appreciative. I'm interested in Shein because I currently live abroad where getting clothes my size/style is a bit of a challenge, and I feel too old ASOS recently!

How depressing. So many people happy to turn a blind eye to ethics and slavery to fulfill their need for cheap shit.

Saintmariesleuth · 01/05/2024 14:34

A friend of mine bought me 2 t-shirts from Shein as a birthday gift. They were poor quality, had no shape and were made from very thin polyester. I never wore them, listed them both on vinted for a pound and have yet to sell either (this was 5 months ago).

I wouldn't buy from them based on this experience and that's without considering the wider ethical issues associated with this company (which is why I have never personally purchased from them).
