Shoes to go with black chinos

PotatoPudding · 30/04/2024 07:33

I don’t own a pair of shoes, as I don’t really feel comfortable in them. I wear Timberlands, Converse and trainers. However, I am applying for jobs and hoping to get a few interviews lined up. My interview trousers are black chinos but I have no footwear to go with them.

What shoes, or maybe very low ankle boots, would people suggest? Nothing open toed, please.

If it helps, the chinos ankle length (but not skinny) because I am short, but they probably could be taken up a bit.

Thanks in advance.

If you are used to trainers, you could try Clarks, they have some black work shoes in a trainer style that still look smart.

But really I expect pretty much any black shoes will look fine with black chinos.

What about something like these?

Oooh, I like those a lot. They would work very nicely and they’re wide fitting!

How about DMs?

I'm the same, always in converse or Toms. I usually wear any old black pumps /ballet shoe type like these https://www2.hm.com/engb/productpage.1224704001.html

Cheap and cheerful to serve a purpose, then I'll be back in my Toms or converse.

I agree loafers sound the obvious choice.

However - if you can afford more than £36 I’d look for leather rather than whatever material the Next shoes linked above are made from. You’ll need work shoes to be comfortable and hard-wearing if you’re in them all day.

Thank you. That’s very good and practical advice.

Clark's loafers

Thank you so much to everyone. I hadn’t even thought of loafers but they seem ideal.

I love the DMs too and will probably invest in a pair if I get one of the jobs I am going for.

For now, the Next ones are very budget friendly and I have Next Unlimited.
