is it now ok to wear bootcut jeans?

Hi everyone
Always loved bootcut jeans as they look so much better on my pear shape as the bottom bit balances my wide hips out - but skinnies have been the norm for so long and finally I am seeing wider jeans in the shops!
Apparently the younger generation are totally into the wider jeans look and rejecting skinnies, but would I look silly wearing the bootcut wider look, as I am older than them, but at the same time, my pear shaped figure looks better in them, than skinnies?
I guess I dont want to look like a mutton dressed as lamb, dressing in a jeans trend that is now for the twenty something, but I know my pear shape would look better in the wider jeans look! Thanks for your advice

How can a pair of jeans possibly make anyone look like 'mutton dressed as lamb'?
Wear a style that suits you. Skinnies have been out for years now anyway. Have the confidence to wear what you enjoy and what looks good on you instead of worrying what other people think.

I only wear my bootcut jeans with trainers as I don’t actually like the look of them on me with other shoes. I have to buy petite / short though and they’re fine but I am short!

I buy short and I'm not short! I can't stand jeans dragging on the ground.

Can bootcut work with trainers? I had the Eva but felt I had to take them up. I'm 5ft 6

They work with anything except shoes! So boots, trainers or sandals. The ‘trend’ is to wear them shorter than previously. Think ankle grazers!

My teenage daughter and all her friends live in flared/ bootcut jeans sometimes worn with cowboy boots. They would not be seen dead in skinnies and even mom jeans seem less popular now (thank goodness as I thought those didn't even look good on them). I am so glad as skinnies always looked awful on me. I carried on wearing my favourite boot cut Levi's throughout and now I look vaguely fashionable again.

I went hunting for them even when there were only skinnies (bleurgh... always hated them) in sight.

42, apple shape size 18, with skinnies/straight legs I look like a lollipop from the waist down. Who fucking cares.

In Ireland and can’t find bootcut anywhere, is skinny or flares/ wide leg. Surely bootcut are the shape that come down and flare out slightly to fit over boots which would mean flares are in now not bootcut?

I wear Levi flares to balance my hourglass figure and have never felt as confident in a style of jeans

I recently bought a black pair and a dark denim pair of Levi 725s. They’re the comfiest, most flattering jeans I’ve ever had. After decades of skinnies, there are now a good range of more flattering (for many) alternatives around, thank god. Ive seen cool young women, cool middle aged and cool older women looking amazing in wide legged, flares and bootcuts as well as skinnies. Relieved that finally skinnies are no longer the top dogs of the trouser world.

Oh and with my figure and short legs I refuse to wear ankle grazers, what a horrible way to appear even shorter 😂😂😂

🤣🤣 I'm 5'7 and if I wore ankle grazers I'd look like I didn't know what size I'm supposed to wear😆 I've never worn skinnys, always boyfriend or cargo. Wear what you want, not what's "trendy"
