Shoe help please - Ugly wide feet

Hi all šŸ‘‹
please please please help. I have very ugly wide feet so sandals and open toe options are out but I’m desperately looking for some new shoes/trainers - maybe ones that I could be reasonably comfy in for a day out shopping for example but also could be worn with dresses? Especially as the weather gets better.
Any suggestions appreciated.
For reference I can’t squeeze into any docs, can just about get into wide fit converse but they do squeeze my foot.
Thanks

You sound very similar to me. Trainers- I find New Balance 327 can fit my feet. As for sandals, I’ve been able to fit into some Gabor G shoes/ sandals and some Hotter ones. I have to filter out the hideous orthopaedic old lady ones to find the passable ones! None of them would be my first choice!

claracluck1978 · 18/04/2024 20:29

I have the same problem - pregnancy and then a bad infection in my foot put paid to any beautiful shoes.

I wear Birkenstocks in the summer but I don't mind toes out. I have just taken delivery of a pair of Sargasso and Grey trainers. They are pricey but I've wanted to try them for a while. I wore them to work today and I think they'll wear well.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 18/04/2024 20:30

I must also add that Birkenstocks are murder on my feet- the instep cuts into my foot as I hangover the sides, even on their apparently wider shoes.

I have stupidly wide feet. Like a PP, I just discovered Sargasso and Grey. At last, shoes that I can wear!

soupfiend · 18/04/2024 20:37

Kassanda Lily at Clarks, Ive just bought them, they do an E fit, not sure if this is your width

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 18/04/2024 20:41

I have Extra wide feet, fallen arches, BIG ankles. I am a "sturdy" sort. I used to wear Skechers but I struggle to get even their widest ones on now. Same with NB. I recently purchased some Hotter Chase II trainers. Not the coolest but they fit! Hotter have a habit of only putting their ugliest "old lady" styles in Extra Wide though, something I have complained about.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 18/04/2024 20:43

My flat wide feet fit very nicely into FitFlop Rally trainers and they are very comfortable. Recommended by someone on here several years ago.

CornishPorsche · 18/04/2024 20:43

I have two pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes that I live in. I also wear several varieties of Crocs, including the ballet shoe styles and the heels. My other shoes are a mix of wide fit from various sources over the years!

Thank you, I can get into the 327s just but my feet look like they’re exploding out and (before I purchased) a good friend said I wasn’t getting away with it šŸ˜‚
yes I think I need to give up and accept my best options are maybe the passable ones šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

@claracluck1978 and @Absurdgiraffe thank you I’ve never heard of that brand before! Just a quick google and they look much better than other options. I am happy to pay a bit more if it helps me feel a bit more confident and comfortable.

Look into barefoot shoes. Your feet are probably not ugly at all, just natural and foot shaped. https://anyasreviews.com/

Thank you, I do have some barefoot and foot shaped shoes but it obviously makes the width issue worse when I want to wear more something different. And I also can’t manage certain days in my barefoots, for example long days at conventions, gigs or shopping.

I'm surprised you can't do a full day in barefoot shoes - I'm the opposite! That said, I do have heel lifts I wear with them now as I have achilles problems and that solves it.

Don't worry about the width of your feet - it's just the width of them, you have to work with it, so if you're comfortable rather than squeezed into painful shoes, why is that such a bad thing?

You can get loads of nice looking wide fit shoes these days on places like Asos, Yours, Simply Be, M&S etc but not all of them will be quality. I have some M&S sandals in leather which are great, but I doubt they'll last more than 3 summers....

Skechers have pretty wide fit shoes, worth trying some on in the shop. I’ve had the odd thing from Clarks too.

I had to look at this site for my giant wide foot son, and they have women’s shoes too. Most are very firmly in the old lady camp but they are VERY wide and I am wondering if there are a couple of potential options that might be ok in isolation (it’s not like I’m in particularly fashionable shoes anyway…)

Last year I bought lots of lovely comfy trainers from M&S to wear to work /outside of work with dresses and skirts - very pleased with them all

Tomatina · 19/04/2024 01:44

Why 'ugly'? There's nothing ugly about wide feet. They are just feet, which come in all shapes and sizes. Provided they are healthy they look fine. Most good brands come in a range of widths, especially trainers and flat shoes. If you like high heels, it's important to get enough width to avoid pinching.

MariaLuna · 19/04/2024 02:08

I have wide feet too (bunions) and have just bought a pair of Skechers. OMG! They're amazing, like walking on cushions. I love them!

Kittenkitty · 19/04/2024 06:31

Thank you @Talipesmum they do have some pretty decent ones online, it’s a shame that the new balance ones are more expensive than their normal range and they don’t have any of their more stylish options. But definitely some of the best options online.

@Tomatina I probably should have written ugly and wide feet. I have visited a chiropodist to try and make them look better but they’ve had no success, and surgery would be risky. If they were just wide I wouldn’t mind showing them 😊

I have wide feet (I wear men’s hoka wide fit for running and my foot is wider than the insole) but I find it’s also down to where the width actually sits. I have a couple of pairs of Ugg milo trainers and they fit beautifully and are so comfy, and yet they are women’s standard width.

sandgrown · 19/04/2024 06:58

I have wide feet and was told to try men’s trainers as they are wider and many are the same styles. I have some extra wide fit leather trainers from J D Williams that are very comfy and were really cheap.

HostessTrolley · 19/04/2024 07:04

I've got stupidly wide feet, they're not beautiful
but I find adidas Stan Smith to be comfy, but I'm on my second pair of these which are surprisingly wide and comfy
