Help with foundation

I'm on the hunt for a nice day time foundation. I wore Estee Lauder double wear for years, but I hate how it feels on my skin now.

I treated myself to the Bobbi Brown lightweight long wear foundation earlier this year. I got sucked into the counter experience and bought it. When I used it at home with my own skincare products it just looked terrible, patchy and also too pale, so at £42 a big waste of money.

I wear charlotte tilbury airbrush flawless for nights out and occasions, but I'm looking for something lighter for during the day. Any suggestions for £40ish and under?

I really like Il Makiage, find it doesn't settle in wrinkles and its buildable coverage. I have pretty normal skin though and apply it with a brush. Then I set it with a fix spray.

Just to add, I think lighter BB/foundation and targeted concealer is the way to go with spots @BirtyDird . Lisa Eldridge has a really good video tutorial on it. A really good concealer and brush is much better than a full face of heavy coverage make up.

Yes I agree, I don't like wearing heavy coverage anymore during the day. A nice light foundation or BB cream, just to give me a nice glow, along with some concealer to spot conceal is what I'm looking for. The no 7 Hydra luminous has given me a nice glow and it doesn't feel heavy at all. Plus it's a great price , much less than what I was paying for the Estee Lauder DW.

I too like the hydra luminous. Gives just about the right coverage and a great colour range

Unfortunately for me it settles - as do so many foundations - in my lines and wrinkles , and especially on dry patches - Im working on a better skin care regime so I can wear it with confidence again

I used The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors +HA underneath and then just applied the foundation with a brush. I applied it around 9am this morning, didn't use a primer or setting spray and it's still looking great now before I wash it off. I got the shade Calico which was a great match shade wise, the only issue is its out of stock at my local branch and online!

After years of not bothering, Im now beginning to bother again :) Age thing I reckon :) Post menopause my skin is challenging. How I long for my teen days when the rimmel would be slapped on, a bit of setting powder and I looked GORGEOUS :) Now I have sun damage, sagging skin, lines and wrinkles and a bloody oil slick of a t - zone

In my 30's EL Double Wear sorted it all for birthdays and high days and Bare Minerals for the "just make me look decent and not like a clown" days

40's and 50"s I never bothered because I was a chef and like nothing is going to work in a kitchen. Now being customer facing, its been a shock to find that what used to work doesnt.

I do love the No 7 - great colour match, great coverage, doesnt feel tacky on me untill its been on for a good while, but I really need to sort out the T-zone. Cheeks etc - smooth and not too bad. Chin and mouth, a few creases ( none on forehead ) just this blasted patch from the bridge of the nose and across the eyebrows will look a complete mess within minutes and being a glasses wearer, to me, really visable

Ive had good results with The Ordinary in the past so Ive ordered a Balance Kit see if that helps. If not, a paper bag :)

@suki1964 I love the Ordinary products. Have you ever tried the 100% organic cold pressed rose hip seed oil? I've been using that at night time and I feel like my skin looks more refreshed in the mornings. It doesn't smell the best, but it's meant to have anti ageing benefits amongst other things. It's about £10 and lasts for ages as a little drop goes a long way.

Ive used that in the past and agree its brilliant

right now the serums Im using are hyaluronic acid and Vit c as well as a retinol/collagen, all really helped with texture, tone and dryness - other then the t -zone . Im just going to try a month targeting that and then reassess
