Hirsutism - how many laser sessions needed?

So I have PCOS related hirsutism around my chin area, very bothersome having to pluck ever other day. Lately started shaving as thought I'd be start laser soon, and now the chin area becomes greenish and prickly the very next day!

I've called around a few places, two clinics saying 8-12 sessions, another place that seems reputable (decent Google reviews) saying 16 sessions which I'll need to bulk buy to try competitive rate!

Will it really take 16 sessions, even if its thick course black hair??

Any input is appreciated!

Hiya

A slight tangent but have you tried Vaniqua cream - can be prescribed by your GP or an online GP, cannot get it on NHS so must pay private but worth exploring.

Never head of that, and abit annoyed the GP has never mentioned it as i've brought up treatment for the facial hair a few times.

Sounds like something to use in between the laser treatments

I noticed a massive difference after 3 sessions. I think I had 8 sessions followed by a couple of top up sessions the following year. It works best on dark hair. It was amazing for me, I hope it works the same for you.

I had two sessions on the NHS 17 years ago and had vaniqa cream. Ithink there was a minor improvement after this.

Shaving will create a shadow

I've had most effective with an epilatior. Which was every few days takes some getting used to and is traumatic on the skin and do think has left a crepey texture.

This Christmas I got a a Lumea for £270 and it is the best!

I have about a 90% reduction after three sessions and the 95% on lip hair (which wasn't that noticeable, unlike the beard)
Armpit is 80% and legs and bikini are work in progress. It's not "permanent hair removal" like laser it's IPL so "hair reduction"

Laser depends on which laser as they are all vastly different

The new laser place is doing 6 sessions to £225 so I'd give it a whirl. It used to be £50 a session in 2007 when I explored this and was hospital only.

TLDR Get a Lumea!
