Since my kids i've almost lost all the weight (7lbs left to go) I'm currently in size 14 jeans, which i can pull down still done up- waaaayyy too big. But i can't get my old size 12s on (one of two i can just about do up if i don't breathe)

I'm 5'4", with an hourglass figure (waist considerably smaller than hips)

Can anyone recommend nice bootcut/flare jeans?

My SIL is a size 10, but very hourglass shape, her waist is tiny!
She found a fab pair of flared jeans in Warehouse, perfect fit and £40.

I sound a bit like your shape. I just bought some in Levis. Or you could try gap long and lean - or try New Look. Some of theirs are good for not much ££.

I'm also 5 foot 4, size 12/14 and an hourglass. The only jeans that look good on me are James Jeans. They're quite expensive (about £175) but sooo worth it as they make me look a dress size smaller and are very comfortable. Try a dark wash bootcut or a straight leg. Liberty and Fenwick have a good stock. I used to buy full price but now I know which ones fit me I just look out for them on ebay - found a pair for £10 recently!
Apparently Paige jeans are also good and I've had some success with French Connection's new Narrow Bootcut.

I'm that sort of shape, though larger all over - I jsut got a fab pair of jeans that sit quite low from Great Plains. Not sure that they wills tand the test of time but only £40

I'm an "inbetween" size, somewhere between a 10 and 12, and I find that Gap jeans with their American sizing are good.

A wear a US 6 (which some people call a UK 10, some say UK 12) -I think of it as being a UK 11.

Working on that theory a US 8 might be your ideal size.
