Hair removal - worth buying IPL device for 3 of us to share?

I've been using an epilator for many years, but the battery life is now really short and I can barely get one leg done at a time. Meanwhile, DDs are now mid-teens and want to remove leg/armpit hair - they've been using disposable safety razors, I felt somehow it might be unhygienic for them to use my epilator.

I was thinking we could invest in a home IPL, the expense doesn't seem too bad if there's 3 of us using it. We have olive skin and nearly-black hair. Is it OK to share the device? Which make/model is the best?

We had a philips lumea do not know which a few years ago. Took a long time between me an dd but we have much less hair regrowth now. Same skin tones and hair as you. Very good buy. Wish I had it as a teen. Now dd will have much less maintenance.

Thank you! That's very helpful - I will investigate the Lumea.

Another question, does it hurt? (DDs want to know).

I have a Lumea, had also imagined DDs might share it but they haven’t tried it so far. It doesn’t hurt to speak of.

I’ve not been overwhelmed by its success though, I’ve started the cycle all over again as still quite hairy! I am pale skinned with dark hair.

I have the lumea and it's been a game changer. No more shaving and I just use it every 6 weeks or so now for maintenance. However I tried it on my husband's back and it didn't work and my daughter tried it and said it didn't for her either. We are going to try again just on a small patch (as took a while to do full back for no result!) as don't understand why it didn't work when it's done wonders for me!

I also have a Lumea. Often on offer at Boots with lots of points. It's time consuming and you need to be consistent for the first six months but worth it.

I love my Lumea. It worked very well for me however I have chalk white skin and darkish hairs so I think that's the best combo for effectiveness. I bought mine from Amazon and paid £50 per month so it didn't seem too expensive at the time. You need to be diligent and use it in conjunction with the app so you use it on the correct days.
I'm just doing a bit of a top up now after being hair free for about 3 years.
It doesn't hurt.
