LED face masks - do they work?

What the title says really. Interested to know if anyone has had any positive results with one and is it worth paying for the more expensive ones (£200+) or can I get away with the £50 ones on amazon?
Thanks!

I have the Current Body led eye mask and have been using it for about 7 weeks and it has made a difference, it has slightly soften the lines around my eyes.
I went to the doctor last week for fillers and he compared my photos and confirmed there had been a slight change.
I was a bit sceptical if it would work. I purchased mine from QVC so I could return if needs be. They also do an option to pay in 3.

I have the same one and love it! Definitely makes a noticeable difference.

I think they do improve skin if used consistently, it helps with fine lines and gives a glow. But it will take a while, you won't get overnight results.

Also make sure you get one with the right wavelengths - i think it's about 630 nanometres for Red light and 800 nanometres for infrared light - CurrentBody, Light Salon and Omnilux are all brands with the correct wavelengths for optimum use (the cheaper ones from Amazon probably don't).

There are lots of studies showing benefits of red light therapy - wound healing, increased collagen production etc. but you have to be consistent with use, most studies had participants using the mask for 12 weeks.

Here's a good video which goes into detail about them -

Thanks all, rely useful replies. I'll keep browsing I think. Annoyingly some don't specify what nanometers they use. Probably best to avoid those ones then.

For safety in would stick with Current body, they’re FDA approved, others often don’t state whether they have this approval. I have a Current body mask and am thinking of getting the Dermalux.

Caroline Hirons did an instagram video on these a little while ago. She said that there isn’t any point unless used regularly and to buy the best you can.

I have just bought a panel rather than a mask that does red and near infrared at the same time.

Dr Amir Karam a plastic surgeon has a video here explaining what to look for if buying one

I've splashed out for the dermalux. I've only just received it but I love it so far. It has already calmed my red, irritated skin and I also find it very relaxing to use.

I have the Project E beauty Photon Mask. I got it from Vinted BNWT.

Honestly, I was sceptical and didn't want to spend big. But I've been very consistent with using it (much to my teenager's amusement) and it's really made a difference.

I have some facial marks from having chickenpox about 7 years ago (thanks also to same teenager!) and I think it really has helped.

Maybe try Vinted or Ebay if you want to give it a go without pouring £100s into it?

Are you using red light for your red skin? I have one (only a cheapie to see if I liked it) that does red blue and yellow, and I have rosacea causing red irritated skin but am not sure which colour light I should be using.

I used all 3 together but I don't think the blue was really necessary - just the red and infrared.

Sliced Bread podcast on BBC iplayer did a good review of LED face masks, which colours did what and what level of light you need etc.
