New RF face device but no Conductive gel; will anything else do the job? Keen to get started!

I've just bought a RF/EMS skin care device and was keen to use it tonight. Have just realised, however, that I haven't bought any conductive gel to apply before using it. Is there anything else that would do the job? I have heaps of moisturisers etc, but am presuming it needs to be something specific. The only gel I have is antibacterial hand stuff!

You need actual conductive gel.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 17/04/2024 20:39

I thought that might be the case.

You need something water based. You could just liberally spray but it would drag more and you’d have to keep doing it. Or aloe Vera gel if you’ve got any after sun would work. Just not anything oil based like moisturiser.

Actually, have just started looking into RF treatments and I'm reading that they cause facial fat loss; am reconsidering! 😊(Yes, I should have researched more thoroughly before purchase...)

I use ultrasound gel, cheap as anything and doesn't cause irritation.

Do you have any hylaronic acid serum? I have one that is water-based and it works fine with my RF device

edited to add that you can put on a fine layer and then spritz with water or a facial mist (basically posh water) to make it go further. Also I find that the device carries a lot of the serum across my face as I go, so I apply by area and see how much I need

@ShangPie - ooh, yes, I have some of that - might have a go with that in a bit. Thanks.

Aloe Vera gel, cheap and cheerful green stuff from B&M does for me. As for fat loss I feel mine did cause this a little so I avoid cheek areas now and use it for jowel area only. Its very effective!

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 18/04/2024 15:07

@5128gap - Do you mind me asking when you noticed the possible fat loss? And is it very noticeable? Can't believe I'd never come across this before. Certainly the salons never mention it! The jowl area is one that bothers me the most so may give it a go on that area.

I was using it around my eye area for crows feet and and I did notice some volume loss from my upper cheek bones. Only I noticed, because I'd been paying my face so much attention through using the device. They can be pretty powerful, but that's a good thing for jowels.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 18/04/2024 20:02

@ - great, will have a go tonight. Sorry to hear about the volume loss you experienced, will take note.

What one did you buy if you dont mind me asking

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 18/04/2024 22:45

@soupfiend - it was from Amazon. Sunmay VSkin RF device. It's a slim pink thing. Can't access my orders at the mo, but think that's it - about £60.
