Only wear black!

Hi all
As the title says I only wear black clothing, occasionally I wear black and white but is mainly black.
I'm not a goth, as I don't like that kind of music or heavy makeup I just like wearing black.
I have tried to wear colours in the past but always feel like a clown I prefer to blend into the background.
Although my house is full of colour like a little vintage cottage.
Is anyone else the same or am I just weird 😂

Yikes! I guess there’s no accounting for taste. Those scarves don’t render themselves appealing to me just by being expensive. Why spoil the aesthetic of a perfectly decent black outfit with a ‘pop of colour’ in scarf form?

I hate the expression "pop of colour". It is, in my opinion, "irredeemably naff".

Hermès scarves are not naff.

*"irredeemably naff"
Irredeemably naff
Irredeemably naff

What nonsense.*

To me, they all look awful. And the OP is happy in her all black. She doesn't want a jaunty pink horse scarf.

I wasn't suggesting them to the OP - It was in response to the poster making the "authoritative" proclamation.

Of course, everyone does. She was being sarcastic.

WhyIOughtTo · 18/04/2024 08:28

But the 'authoritative proclamation' was that adding a scarf to an all black outfit is naff.

If you're happy, why change ? I bet people think you very stylish, and perhaps wish they could also carry off the black.

I used to always wear black, buy I was goth. Now I wear blue denim, grey and khaki. I don't do colourful or pattern .

henlake7 · 18/04/2024 10:12

Nothing wrong with wearing a scarf!! I have a huge collection, winter woolies, silk types and tasseled ones....all colours and patterns!
They suit me and look awesome. (I tend to stay away from black and white as it washes me out and doesnt suit me).

However if the OP loves black and it suits them why bother changing??

Sandwichblock · 18/04/2024 10:16

I don't wear black at all, ever, which is surprisingly liberating. Nothing goes with black, except white/cream, especially not a bright scarf!

All black can be chic, but doesn't suit most people.

LipstickedPowderedAndPainted · 18/04/2024 10:23

High summer I wear colours but the rest of the year almost everything is black, leggings, tops, skirts, dresses, jumpers, cardigans, coats. I like it. I believe it suits me, a nice bit of simple jewellery and some simple refined make up. It always looks smart and put together. I have a couple of cream tops I might occasionally wear but that's about it. If you find a style you are happy in, that you feel suits you and its ' home' there is absolutley nothing wrong with that. Being happy and comfortable is a wonderful thing☺️

I haven't had my colours done (whatever that is🙈)
But I'm happy wearing black. I just wondered if there was any non goths out there that like wearing all black or just me x

My wardrobe is predominantly black or navy with a few colour splashes like a red tshirt or green top.
I got used to wearing all black when I worked in IT and I was working on cabling and networking and that involved working on feeding cables through awkward spaces so I'd be on my hands and knees a lot so wearing paler coloured clothes didn't really work.

LoobyDop · 18/04/2024 12:15

I used to do that in my 20s. I thought it made me look cool. Now I look back and think I looked pale and defensive. I almost never wear black now.

Thinking that a jaunty pink horse scarf is not naff because it has an Hermes label and a £450 price tag is not a sign that you know something the rest of us don’t 😂

It's no more or less valid that opinion that it is "naff".

Comefromaway · 18/04/2024 13:33

Black is really stylish. I love it.

However I have found that navy is a good alternative along with jewel tones such as dark green, burgundy, teal and purple.

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 18/04/2024 13:37

I don't think its weird at all! I dress only in black, blue, white & I've got 1 khaki green jumper. That's because those colours suit me. Wearing bright colours would be my worst nightmare.

I've recently mixed it up with my coats though - navy raincoat, beige puffa & grey teddy bear coat. I don't even own a black one right now!!

It if suits you, just keep doing it!
