Is there any product at all that can rescue the skin on the back of my hands?

I’ve only noticed it in the past year or two. Is the only answer to start wearing lacy gloves to all social functions?

Is there any product at all that can rescue the skin on the back of my hands?

Following this! Same here. Started using handcream this week.

CJ0374 · 16/04/2024 16:20

Do you mean wrinkles/dryness or something else?
Daily sunscreen will help further damage. A good moisturiser will help plump it up a bit. I used to like the body shop hemp hand cream, but no idea if you can still buy it.
I saw a TV programme where buttock fat was injected into the backs of the hands to plump them up. That might be an option if desperate for more youthful hands. 😬

JoJothegerbil · 16/04/2024 16:28

Mine are the same. No amount of hand cream makes any difference though.

Sgtmajormummy · 16/04/2024 16:33

Neutrogena (Norwegian fishermen’s formula) is good for overnight, or simply Sudocrem if your hands are chapped.
L’Occitane has handcream that seems good at the start but I found if I stopped using it my hands felt strangely itchy.

Sandwichblock · 16/04/2024 16:34

Handcream makes them feel better but I haven't found a way to make them look better

NoraLuka · 16/04/2024 16:35

Nivea in the dark blue pot.

Nousernamesleftatall · 16/04/2024 16:37

Tretonin and castor oil. Look up castor oil for skin on you tube. Miraculous stuff.

FlexIt · 16/04/2024 16:37

Boots No7 retinol hand cream.

GogAndMagog · 16/04/2024 16:39

Try a hand massage? Aysel does a very good one on You Tube.
Derma pen or Derm roller?
Retin or Tretin also, but you need to be super careful with SPF.

MetaDaughter · 16/04/2024 16:51

I see absolutely nothing wrong with your hands. Presumably they are the same age as the rest of you?

There's nothing wrong with her hands, but OP wants advive on improving the look and texture. This is Style and Beauty.

What I meant was:

I see nothing that requires improvement.

So for me it would feel odd to suggest ways for the OP to expend money and energy to fix a non-existent ‘problem’.

Obviously good nutrition, avoidance of harsh chemicals, hand cream are all good to maintain skin.

noonesayscheese · 16/04/2024 18:49

That could be a picture of my hand.

I lived in south India for a couple of years in my 30s and I wasn't great with the F50 on the old hands but there's nowt I can do to reverse the damage. Damn it.

A beautician advised me to use products with urea in, it breaks down the top layer of the skin to promote cell regrowth or some other bobbins. So I slather on hand cream with urea in it, and pop those little white gloves on overnight. I also use F50.

LunaNorth · 16/04/2024 19:07

They’re better than mine! I jump out of my skin when I notice them on the steering wheel - it looks like my mother’s back from the grave and is driving my car.

SparrowFeet · 16/04/2024 19:12

Definitely a retinol product. I buy one from Amazon which is pretty cheap. More like a serum which I then stick Vaseline on top of over night.
Make sure you're wearing SPF on your hands in the day as well.

Chro · 16/04/2024 19:43

Thanks all, looks like it’s SPF in the day to slow it getting worse and retinol at night to reverse the damage already done! Plus a bit of Neutrogena for good measure 😊

Mine are similar, I’m outdoors a lot and I think this has made them age more.
I like using Lush helping hands, I have eczema so a lot of hand creams make my skin worse.

ASighMadeOfStone · 16/04/2024 19:54

I second the Neutrogena concentrated. Tiny tube. Cheap as. 300 doses in a tube. It's magic.

minipie · 16/04/2024 19:54

Do you drink enough water? I don’t and it seems to show first in this area.

NarrowGate · 16/04/2024 19:57

I rub in Eucerin cream, then cover in Vaseline, then thin plastic gloves that look like Clingfilm. Works very well although not sexy overnight.

Mairzydotes · 16/04/2024 20:11

How old are you OP? My hands started doing the same round when i turned 40.

At least we don't have age spots and visible sun damage.

Garlicked · 16/04/2024 20:47

I second the urea/Eucerin recommendation.
Laundresses used to rub their hands with glycerine, it traps in moisture.
Norwegian Formula is very good.
Keep a F50 sunblock in your bag/pocket, get in the habit of applying it to your hands.
Even so, I'm not sure retinol's the best idea for the hands - will you really be able to keep sunlight off them all the time you're outdoors?

Yep, I look at my hands and see my mother and my nana. How did this happen?😅

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/04/2024 23:43

I use a very un-glamorous liquid paraffin cream from the pharmacy - Epimax. Very very cheap and better than any hand cream I have ever tried.

PerfectTravelTote · 16/04/2024 23:54

Use whatever you use on your face.
