I am new to vinted. Is it usual to make an offer? What percentage is usual vs offensive? Please help!

It really depends. You can always increase your offer if they decline it op.

MotherWol · 16/04/2024 13:46

I tend to make an offer if the thing I'm looking at has been on sale for a while (e.g. more than a week or so), on the basis that the longer it's been on sale, the more keen they'll be to sell it. I reckon 10-20% off is okay, any higher is cheeky.

Ihonestlydontgetit · 16/04/2024 13:57

I'll often make an offer on more expensive items but not if they're cheap.
I don't get offended by offers on my items either. Just go for it.

RandomUsernameHere · 16/04/2024 14:06

Yes very usual to make offers, especially if the item has been listed a while.

Thanks all. A very reasonably priced cashmere hoodie is on its way to me.

and now to step away before I buy everything

I always offer a lower price , love Vinted and have bought most of my spring/ summer clothes from there this year.

wishIwasonholiday10 · 16/04/2024 16:19

Yes, I usually make an offer. The amount off depends on how much it’s listed for but you can offer up to 40% off the listed price. The only downside is that you might miss out on the item if someone pays full price or offers more than you while you’re waiting to hear back about your offer so if you really want it and it’s a fairly new listing it might not be worth offering.

PermanentlyTired03 · 16/04/2024 16:23

You might aswell take a chance- they can only
decline. I’ve sold lots of Vinted, I’ve had all sorts of offers, usually accept them as I’m getting rid of old stuff. The seller can always come back with a counter offer 🙂

usernother · 16/04/2024 17:51

I only sell on Vinted, I don't buy. I don't accept offers that I think are too low, especially if the item is priced low anyway. I'd rather give the item away to a charity shop. I refused an offer last week, then the buyer offered full price.

MuscariFan · 16/04/2024 17:56

Whether I accept offers often depends on whether I already have parcels to post, or my general mood on the day. 🤣 Always worth a try!

Pleiades2020 · 17/04/2024 06:31

Yes offers are normal on Vinted, though some people seem to get offended by them for some reason. If an item is a good price already and newly listed just buy it as you may lose out if you put an offer in (sellers don't always respond quickly or may wait to see if the item sells at full price), If an item has been on a while it's ripe for a low offer. I sell some things and get a lot of offers but am never offended. If buying you do get the odd person though who tells you they paid £XX for it and won't accept less than £YY - they miss the point that things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.

Serene135 · 17/04/2024 22:11

Some people can be extremely cheeky and annoying with some of the offers they send. They will ask for £1 off a £3 item, or ask for a huge discount to try to get something for nothing etc. There’s not much point in using packaging materials, spending time packaging it up and driving to post it for £2!

The thing is the buyer isn't paying £2 by the time postage and insurance is added so I understand trying to knock down a bit.

But sometimes it’s already heavily discounted even with the fees added on.

The seller can refuse any offer but I often find the ones that do have an over inflated idea of the item's value.

It depends entirely on how much they're asking imo.

I won't accepted offers on items that are already cheap because it's not worth my while packing them and driving to post them.
