I need a dress suitable for weddings and a christening

I have at least two weddings over the next few months plus either 1 or 2 christenings; may be godparents at one of them if the parents finally get it sorted.

I want a dress suitable for wearing at them. Will also need accessories and probably a light jacket or something too. I am not a shoe/bag person though so will only want something simple.

I am 5 foot, and a size 12 (well 12 in Monsoon fittings anyway). Carrying too much weight and have no will power so not likely to have lost it by that time.

I like this dress in Monsoon - would it be suitable for a wedding do you think?

It's gorgeous! Just had a look myself but only comes in size eight or twelve, gutted
:-(

I think it would be suitable for both weddings and christenings maybe just change the accessories if you'll see the same people at each event.

Thanks. Need to have a visit over to Meadowhall now to try it on

Dress is nice but not if you need to loose some weight - especially around the arms.

Strappy tops can be really dodgy.

EffiePerine · 31/03/2008 09:22

I like this one

agree that strappy dresses can be a bit dodgy (also back and white can be a bit dull)

Beetroot · 31/03/2008 09:24

crinkle one looks like it needs a good iron!!!

EffiePerine · 31/03/2008 09:29

aha but it is meant to be like that - a good excuse never to iron it

hatwoman · 31/03/2008 09:35

like Cod's pink one. agree that the b&w one is not a flattering cut - patterns aren't good for flattering either - one colour and wrappy much better.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 09:40

how on earth can someone in a size 12 be regarded as FAT?!?!?

she may feel as if she is carrying more weight than she would like too - fair enough, all relative to what the individual is happy with but she is by no means fat

Beetroot · 31/03/2008 09:48

she said she was carrying extra weight!

I am a size 12, not fat, but wouldn't wear that dress as it is not flatering - print, squareneckline and strajps

Beetroot · 31/03/2008 09:48

and I am tall - she is short

Hulababy · 31/03/2008 09:50

Not sure we have a Phase 8.

I am carrying some extra weight - more on my thighs and tummy though. Not big on top.

how do you feel about pink?!

coast have some beautiful dresses in online now

coast

Hulababy · 31/03/2008 09:53

The red/pink tie front one is mainly polyester - would that not be really hot if the wedding ends up being a warm day?

Just found out that one of the weddings is a mainly outdoor one, with an outdor meal in the evening apparently.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 09:54

red?

also with the twist front, wide enough straps, fitted at bust and skims out covering your worried about areas of tum and thighs?

Hulababy · 31/03/2008 09:54

Have some other dresses from Coast - they seem to fit quite well I think. Monsoon Petite is a very good fit for me I have found.

I struggle with some non petite clothes as tops/waists are not int he right place.

Think the prom dress would be too formal.

if its not 'shiney' I think it would be ok if you dress it down with black accessories?

killer heels of course though
wallis petite not sure how you feel about black though?

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 10:00

good luck finding something you like
