Balayage help

Hi I have dark brown hair and recently had a balayage. Because I said I didn’t want any orangey-news the hairdresser suggested an ash blonde type colour. I like the top of my hair where the blond is mixed in with my natural hair and I’m happy with how it looks when tied up, but when I leave it down the ends which have the ash blond in a solid colour are way too much. Is there a way to correct this? Would adding some dark lowlights help? Or do I need to just change the colour because I don’t like the full on light blond colour on the bottom? If there isn’t a way to keep this colour but making the ends less stark I will probably just go for a warmer colour all over. I feel like if I chopped the ends off and went for a bob I would be happy with the colour but short hair doesn’t suit me. Thanks!

I like the colour, but if you don't, that's the key thing.

A cut would reduce the light ends but I guess that will only work if you are happy to lose some length.

@vincettenoir Thanks. I think the colour isn’t the issue because I like the top part. It’s just that the colour needs to be mixed with my natural colour like the top part but I don’t know if that’s possible with a balayage? I can’t lose that much length because it wouldn’t suit me so need to find another way to fix it.

Low lights through the lighter bits, so it's more blended I would say.

In my experience the coolness only lasts a week or two then it fades and starts to look warmer so the colour may change anyway.
I would wait a week or so, and then if you're still not happy maybe you could ask for a toner to be put on?
<btw, I think it looks lovely>

@ChishiyaBat thanks! That’s what I was thinking. Do you know if it’s possible somehow to have lowlights concentrated on the ends of the hair because I don’t want to change the top?

@MissAtomicBomb1 thank you! It is already slightly warmer a few days in and I like how it looks in pictures and low lighting. I was sat in low lights and my husband was saying it looks different and nice then when he switched the light on he said it looks greyish again. My son also said “mommy’s hair has become grey” so I don’t think I’m being paranoid!

There is a technique called reverse balayge, also it could be free handed if your stylist is good enough.
