Hi

Anyone got any recommendations for which ones to buy, following these being mentioned on another thread?

Thanks

If allergic to latex (which is often the tie composition of the elastic inside) I found lillysilk.com do good latex free ones. (Emailed them and they confirmed at the time they were latex free. May want to re-confirm if this is an issue as it was a few years ago now.)

Nadine Baggott raves about the Beauty Pie ones. (Contain latex)

They’re all varying degrees of expensive!

Otherwise I’m sure they’re all much of a muchness and would just do a google search for ones you like. Make sure you look at the composition in the read up though as some are titled silk but are made of polyester.
All that said I don’t really use them anymore as they slipped out of my hair too often, which to be fair is my hair type and not the fault of the tie.

I use these rolled elastic ones now. They’re extremely stretchy and gentle on hair too.

Mine are from H&M

InAMillion · 13/04/2024 08:52

I have a Slip one (real silk) H&M ones and some called silky knots by W7 (these are satin not silk) but work exactly the same

They're all the same but all stretch after a while which is fine.

InAMillion · 13/04/2024 08:55

Buy any of them because they're so good for your hair and don't slip off

They're like very thin scrunchies so elastic in the middle and silk / satin on the outside

Thank you all!

I have Slip ones. They're pricey but seem to hold their shape/strength well. My hair is long and stupidly thick and they hold up well. They don't pull hair and seem to do less damage than regular bobbles.

FreakInTheSheets · 14/04/2024 16:09

How do you all find the silk ties measure up against the plastic ones that look like telephone cords? (Which are also meant to be less damaging than traditional hair elastics)?

I have long straight fine hair but lots of it

The telephone wire type hairbands are dreadful for my hair

The silk / satin hair ties have been a fantastic discovery for me

I got my first Slip one in a JL Advent Calendar which at first didn't look very exciting but has been a very welcome revelation for my hair

My hair is far less damaged than ever.

I wear them a lot at night because I plait my hair to sleep in

InAMillion · 15/04/2024 00:56

On the odd occasion I wear a simple thin hair tie it gets all caught up when I take it which I hate
