Wavy hair, washing and not drying?

I have bob length but with layers, wavy hair, I use no sulphates/no silicone products and it's helped a lot but I really can't stand drying my hair. I usually wash it before bed (too much morning chaos with DCs) and just can't stay up till it dries naturally and it takes ages to blow dry plus I don't like the effect on my hair of drying every day.
Is there any way to preserve my waves (which are very nice with wet hair and gel!) till the next day?

Can you spend 2 minutes in the morning, dunking it in a bucket 5 or 6 times? If you then just scrunch it gently with a microfiber towel and leave it alone to dry it will look fab and the waves will return.

Even if you just spritz with water the next day and scrunch it should help. Unfortunately, however you sleep it tends to flatten your waves/curls.

Diffuser works for me with some air drying time too. Also look up Curly Zia on TikTok or Instagram.

This is my hair btw. I do no sulfate/silicone and just leave to dry naturally.

Is it too short to pineapple?? maybe a sleep bonnet?

RollOnSpringDays · 12/04/2024 19:48

I have to wash mine every morning. I scrunch with mousse and gel then get my jobs done and eat breakfast etc. So it has around half an hour natural drying time. I then use a diffuser and medium to low heat and dry upside down for five minutes. It looks hideous every morning so I just can’t not wash it !

What's pineapple?
I could definitely try a sleep bonnet. DH would laugh but sod him!

I used to wash every other day but with better product it's about once or twice a week.

If it takes too long to blowdry have you considered a new hairdryer?

I had the same hairdryer for years and thought they were much of a muchness.

When it died, I bought a Parlux. Lifechanging. Even with the diffuser on it dries so fast and gives way more volume than the last one.

Like an old 80s ponytail right on top of your head. As far front as you can get it. It's a curly girl thing

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 12/04/2024 20:22

I have a wavy bob and French plait mine. If it's still wet and I'm going to sleep I'll reluctantly blast the hairdryer on it. I don't ever blow dry my hair or use a dryer unless desperate

drspouse · 12/04/2024 20:24

Ah no it's way too short for that.
Maybe I do need a better hairdryer.

I could definitely wet it in the morning as long as I didn't have to dry it as well.

I twist it in sections then sleep with it up in a pineapple bun on top of my head. Still slightly damp come morning so can be smoothed down but it it is wavy.

Mairzydotes · 12/04/2024 20:35

If I go to bed with wet hair, I plait it. Could you do that?

I don't do anything with my waves , I just pop some product on first.

GrumpyPanda · 12/04/2024 20:52

Mine actually loses its curls if I use a hairdryer on it. Wash, no conditioner (makes it too heavy), curly hair mousse, scrunch up and airdry. In really cold weather I'll use a dryer with diffuser to take some of the humidity out. Also helpful to me: a good haircut that lightens it out from underneath. And funnily enough, it gets a lot curlier after a good workout, so sweat seems to function as a conditioner of sorts.

GettingStuffed · 12/04/2024 21:05

I just twist mine around a finger, that may just be because of my curly type, loose corkscrew

Also way too short for that... More of a long pixie cut really

I would plait at night or take large sections, wrap around your finger and pin to your head. I have curly hair and to look decent it needs soaked but I dry with a diffuser. Sprauing with water just makes it frizzy. If you CBA to dry it I'd try either of those too. You can get silk bonnets to wear in bed but I couldn't get on with mine.

drspouse · 14/04/2024 19:52

It's not long enough to plait, don't the pins hurt when you lie on them?

Got a microfibre turban and I actually showered this morning (inset day). I'll see how it goes!
