Need help choosing gift on someones behalf- come on ladies money is NO object!

I thought I would ask on here as I always see links to lovely expensive things that I could never afford myself . I am bridesmaid in June and the groom has asked me for suggestions what he can by for my friend the bride as a wedding day present. I would imagine, that on this gift money isn't really an object , but it is the level of thought that I'm sure she would appreciate, rather than the cost. So anyone got any bright ideas? Thanks.

This isn't probably do able for you but
my present to my new husband was a cross stitch of our first house together taken from a photo. It looks brill but took me months to do.

The point is something personal and which has had a lot of thought will mean more than some bling diamond he has had someone else pick.

3NAB · 30/03/2008 17:43

What about a scrap book of their relationship. Photos of places theu have been, menus from restaurants, memories of the proposal, etc etc.

suwoo · 30/03/2008 17:44

Thats lovely NAB. I don't want to pick the ACTUAL present, I agree that would be shit. I think he is hoping for ideas from a womans perspective, rather than his own limited imagination.

Im sure youve thought of it but jewellery. Something antique or special/unique, perhaps engraved. Something that is special to them.

suwoo · 30/03/2008 17:45

That reply was to your 1st post. I'm not sure if he has all that stuff still?

She has pretty much everything....It needs to be something more thoughtful, like the wine or the something blue. She is used to being showered with gifts

Her jewellery is platinum by the way. I'm not sure about jewellery..I would be stunned if my DH had bought me something like that, but maybe this could be something more unusual/thoughtful? She hasn't got everything in a Victoria Beckham way, but eg got a Mulberry bag and purse for her birthday. Last birthday was taken to New York.

I know I am saying jewellry like lots of other posters, but perhaps jewellry from Tiffany (unless their wedding rings are from there in which case she may think no imagination) There are lots of platinum items and although pricey, will be something she can pass down and her children/grandchildren will always have heard of Tiffany, and be very happy to receive it.

newgirl · 30/03/2008 20:58

from a husband before a wedding - has to be jewellry surely?

a jewellry box? engraved?

something blue/new/old etc?

pampering etc is for birthdays i think rather than this sort of occasion

suwoo · 30/03/2008 21:17

The wedding rings are from Tiffany. Any links to anything specific?

Gemy · 30/03/2008 22:16

I had a feeling you'd say that!

But, here a few pretty things:

uk.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=21860034&mcat=148207&cid=288153&search_params=s+5-p+11-c+28815 3-r+201425718-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

uk.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=22186698&mcat=148207&cid=288153&search_params=s+5-p+4-c+288153 -r+201425718+201323340-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

The one lots of celebs have 'The Tiffany Cross'
uk.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=11836615&mcat=148207&cid=288153&search_params=s+5-p+5-c+288153 -r+201425718+201323340-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

Loads on their website though, hard to choose just one!

Otherwise, for jewellry there's always Apsreys, or perhaps vintage Chanel watch etc?

suwoo · 30/03/2008 22:26

Wow! Never really had cause to look at those items at Tiffany before, they are fab. I'm liking the vintage Chanel watch idea too. Thanks Gemy.

OP posts:
missblythe · 31/03/2008 20:24

Vintage watch is a great idea. Maybe a Cartier or Rolex from the 70s.

My husband bought me a painting, which he had hung on the wall for when we got back from honeymoon- adore it, but it could have gone badly wrong if I didn't like it (quite likely, as I'm hideously fussy) and I'd been stuck with the wretched thing for ever.

Would LOVE an eternity ring, or solitaire studs though, just in case my DH ever sts for gift ideas

missblythe · 02/04/2008 10:34

Ooh, I thought of something else!

Personalised note paper/writing paper with her new name on-if she is taking his name.

Either go for the classic from

www.smythson.com/SmythsonSite/cm/bespoke_stage1_cards.htm

Or for something a bit more 'modern' (!)

paperplain.net/?cPath=1

Hmm, would like this for me too
