The best one I’ve found by far is C Glow by Geek & Gorgeous. It does need to be stored in the fridge to prevent oxidisation but they sell a mini empty bottle that you can decant a week’s worth of product into. It’s the closest dupe to Skinceuticals (generally thought to be the best) without paying £100+.

I love allies of skin vitamin c , it's 20% water suspension but it's quite pricey at about £90 and you need to spritz your face first so it can go on easily . Summer Fridays cc me vitamin c is lovely too .
I have bought the ordinary vitamin c cream to try as a budget alternative , it's a bit gritty but goes on nicely with my moisturiser and it's only a bargain £7.50 I think , i bought it as an add on so I didn't have to pay delivery fees on something else i wanted to order .
You could always put an ISO Caroline Hirons skincare freaks buying and selling Facebook page for the ordinary 30% one , someone on there might have one to sell .

The Garnier Vitamin C serum. They do it in a cream, which I prefer as it acts a a moisturiser, as well as a straight serum. Have used it religiously for the past year. I had a dark age spot on my face which has lightened considerably. I get complimented on my skin and asked what I use and it's under £10.

It's more the type of vitamin C and the % of it that matters rather than the brand. L-ascorbic acid is the best apparently and % should lie between 12 and 20. Most good ones are at about 15%.
The G&G above is consistently rated as being almost identical to the goldstandard Skinceuticals as @TattiePants says.
I'm currently using the Sali Hughes one which has been lovely. Might try the G&G next.

I used to love the Vichy liftactiv one but it was a tiny bottle and oxidised quickly.
Ones I've tried but wouldn't repurchase:
The Ordinary- vile, scratchy, gritty horrid stuff
Garden of Wisdom- funny oil texture
La Roche Posay - gloopy and slimy
N7- not too bad compared to the above, but not my favourite.

The Ordinary does a couple. The silicon one which I also love is currently out of stock (and often is, very annoying) but the other one without silicon is available currently. It's more exfoliating than the one in silicon so I prefer to use it at night (when I'm not using retinol).

If you are willing to spend a bit, the Murad one is very good. I stopped using it more because the smell irritated me, but it's not a bad smell, just one I don't like.

I think Sali Hughes in the Gauardian today recommended a Garnier one.

Sunday Riley CEO glow with turmeric is my fave

I've tried Boots No.7 Radiance, Sali Hughes and Optimum but they all seem to have a nasty smell. I don't know whether to persevere with different brands or give up on VitC! The Boots one gives the nicest glow but very wet feel. SH is quite nice.

I bought the medik8 one based on a thread here and like it so far.

JerkintheMerkin · 13/04/2024 17:35

Kri Skincare do two lovely vitamin c serums. It uses Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate which is a superior form of vitamin c.

Agree with this. They also do an eye cream in the same range which I've been applying to an age spot and noticed it fading.
