Short, fat, big bust - what to wear for C25K?

PervOrNoPerv · 10/04/2024 17:27

I have a good sports bra but am looking for some loose, baggy t-shirt and sweatshirt recommendations to wear outside when starting C25K
The aim is to be as inconspicuous as possible!
Thanks.

I wouldn’t worry about the first few weeks when starting as it is mostly walking rather than running. I would say just use any t shirts that are past their prime and also would say the same for sweatshirts. When you start running then you probably won’t need a sweatshirt. If you are using the BBC app then I also recommend Jo Whitley as your ‘coach’.

I don’t have any t-shirts or sweatshirts that are big enough and baggy enough to venture out in.

I had Sarah Millican. I have to confess to quite liking being told “well done, flower!”

Spudlet · 10/04/2024 18:15

Mountain Warehouse also do quite good stuff for an even better price. Sorry, I’ll stop posting now. Good luck with the C25K!

AuntieStella · 10/04/2024 18:18

SweatyBetty is very overpriced for for pretty standard performance.

OP: try Decathlon - best VFM by miles and good performance.

I don't usually recommend Sports Direct, but their Karrimor range (now an own brand of theirs) is absolutely fine.

I find the supermarkets stuff to be much of a muchness, and again it's all fine.

And check charity shops - running shirts in particular are nigh on indestructible, so there's usually a few to be had

Second Good Move and also Primark although to be honest it is worth checking in the local charity shops. You could try getting some cheap Mens t shirts in Primark too. I did the C25K in Primark stuff.

The isocool 'base layer' t shirts from outdoors shops are good but I always find I want to go up a couple of sizes so they're loose

I did C25K and became “A Runner” afterwards until I developed plantar fasciitis. I wore proper running tights (usually Nike ones) and sports bras but just any old tee on top, band t-shirts or whatever. No-one will be looking at you other than to say “good for her”.

The most important thing for me was a decent belt/bag thing for my phone, keys and tissues - I did it over summer and hayfever was a pain. Some running tights have secret pockets tucked in the waist which were good.

I had Jo W as my coach and really liked her. I did repeat a couple of weeks (four and five maybe?) so don’t feel bad if you need to go again with some runs.

Thanks for all the replies. Can anyone suggest where to find baggy t-shirts in large sizes please?

Primark is your friend. Get a few oversized t-s. Go for mens sizes if you want to hide under baggy tops.

CurlyFerret · 11/04/2024 07:51

I just buy men’s T shirts from M&S as I find the sizes and loose fit better for my shape. But also just got a total bargain from an online store magic mountain - I love Ronhill running tights and I’m guessing they’re past season or something but - paid £11 for tights that are usually about £50 to £60!

PervOrNoPerv · 11/04/2024 21:46

Thanks, I’m off to Primark and M&S tomorrow in search of baggy T-shirts.

If you want some trousers to go with your baggy t shirts, i can recommend m&s good move gym leggings for 27.50, I’ve just bought some and they have a leg pocket for your phone and are weirdly flattering, my legs look thinner in them plus they have a drawstring waist so they won’t fall down. Road tested in the gym yesterday and all went well.

rainontherooftop · 12/04/2024 06:36

Am I the only one who read this as OP wanting to spend around £25k on something to wear?

It doesn't matter what you wear OP as long as you've got a good sports bra, I've found M&S ones very good.

Mimrr · 12/04/2024 06:51

C25K was one of the best things I ever did.
Am also fat and busty. I would say it’s best to invest in the proper tech fabric for tops as they wash and dry so quickly compared to a standard cotton one. Primark men’s section or sports direct if you can face the latter. Worst shop in the world!
All the best.

Reachforthestars00 · 12/04/2024 07:14

I wear Sweaty Betty leggings and Nike tank vests for running. I love the pockets on the leggings. Not cheap, but there are similar things out there.

On colder days, I also wear a thinner long sleeved running top with a half zip, that can easily be removed and tied around my waist when I get warm.

Be aware that sportswear is often sized quite small. I'm no longer overweight, but still need to buy a large or extra large to go over my larger bust!

ImpishOrAdmirable · 12/04/2024 07:20

I like underarmour v necks for a big chest. They have some on sale atm. I size up.

PervOrNoPerv · 12/04/2024 12:49

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I’ve gone with M&S Everyday Crew neck T-shirts. Nice square, baggy shape in 100% cotton which doesn’t cling to the blubber too much 😀
