Red blotchy skin help?

I'm hoping for advice about my terrible skin. I'm 44, and it's got worse but has never been great. As you can see it's often blotchy red, sometimes with spots. I think diet exacerbates it (I notice its a lot worse after dairy and wheat). Could it just be that. I have cut out dairy but sometimes have wheat. Might it clear if I eliminate it. I've tried various creams, currently on elemis which is nice and doesn't make it worse, but not making it better either. My father's skin is now very, very red. Could it be genetic? Any ideas very gratefully received.

Mine is the same. I've cut out coffee and moved exclusively to decaff and that has made a huge difference. I think mine is possibly an allergy to something in facecream do I'm very carefully what I use. Have you tried ant of the green concealers? I've found a couple of them that work very well. They completely mask the redness and make me feel a lot better.

Thank you. Good ideas. I don't drink coffee but do like dark chocolate so maybe I should cut that out. I'll look into green concealers. It does feel like it might be an intolerance / reaction to something as it often feels angry too. Thanks.

I'd go with specialist skincare for sensitive skin, look at Avene, La Roche Posay, Bioderma, Vichy.

I have perioral dermatitis and cannot use anything outside these brands and sometimes not even some of the products in those brands. They changed the formula of Avene's skin recovery cream and it was never the same 😢

If you think diet changes will help go with it. Dairy, especially, is very linked to eczema (not saying what you have is eczema but is bound to improve anyway).

If it's red, hot and itchy any Cica creams will help: Cicaplast, etc.

Hope you get better

Erborean cc red correct is amazing for disguising this.

I have roseacea- my routine is Cetaphil face wash, avene skin soothing cream (these two calm and cool down by skin soooooo much!!!), then le Roche posay spf, it does the job. But yes more water less tea or fizzy drinks (so they say but I fall down on this a lot!) I use aimee connolly primer and a bb cream. Best of luck op!!

Might it be worth getting a referral to a dermatologist? They can usually organise patch testing to see what allergens are causing it or at least prescribe medication or advise on topical creams to help.

It may also be helpful to look into whether there are any laser clinics that can help, perhaps book a consultation?
i use laser clinics uk for hair removal and I know they offer lots of skin rejuvenation treatments too, it’s more affordable than it used to be with lots of payment options.

I use this and it's fabulous. A top tip is to sort of push it onto your red bits with a brush, rather than put it on with your hands. You'll see an immediate difference to the redness.

Totally agree that Erborian CC red correct is very effective. I would suggest getting a sample first if possible or going somewhere to try it. I’m pale skinned and found it to be just a bit too orangey on me. It was a massive shame as there was so much to like about it.
