New pants (for large bum and tum)

Panicatthegarden · 04/04/2024 14:24

I am sorely tempted to throw out all the underwear I own and start again

I prefer a high waist that will smooth my post baby mum pooch and nothing that's going to cut my ample bottom into 4 pieces 🙈😂

I would like them to be

  • not hideous
  • no vpl
  • available in black or skin coloured

Does anyone have any recommendations?

P.s i have the Wirapa from amazon too. Comfy, but not as good as the others I recommended as they are quite thick fabric.

StarlightLady · 07/04/2024 09:59

M&S Brazilians do it for me. They look nice, comfy on the kegs, the fabric is ultra fine and they stretch, so they move with you.

l never understand the praise for Sloggi which you see regularly on similar threads. Each to their own, but for me, Sloggi knickers have fabric which does not stretch and is far too thick. Plus you said you did not want hideous! If you see yourself in a mirror wearing them, it looks as if you are wearing a nappy!

readingrocks · 07/04/2024 10:13

Sloggi has loads to choose from online, not cheap but last and last - they often have sales and 3 for 2s so worth waiting for those...

Another vite for the amazon wirapa ones, very comfortably, esp these ones with the elastic panel Deal: wirarpa Women's Cotton High Waisted Compression Panties Full Coverage Brief Underwear Tummy Control Knickers 4 Pack https://amzn.eu/d/i89pvMH

Not exactly sext lingerie but not hideous either.

You are my people. My pants make my arse look like it’s got four cheeks.

Sorry, but l fail to see how something 95% cotton can hold you in.

UseOfWeapons · 07/04/2024 12:55

Watching with interest. My arse has mostly disappeared, so I’m left with the charming saggy skin on broad hips and bottom. Most knickers look awful. I hate the crappy edging on most pants, so I’m still sewing up the elderly ones I own as I have nothing to replace them with. Any suggestions for ones that cup a weary bottom without cutting into not will be gratefully received.

mitogoshi · 07/04/2024 12:57

Tu, have various styles depending on your style needs. Full black is my choice, comes in a multi pack

Primark have black shorts style pants, a bit like cycle shorts but a lot shorter. They're very comfortable, seamless, highish waist. Pack of 3 in black.

Could you link to these ones @PrincessofWells?
I've googled but there's a LOT of choice on their site!

nc22124 · 07/04/2024 13:09

I'm a huge fan of stripe & stare high rise

Ok, guess you'll never know then.

They aren't control pants or spanx, which I do have and have worn for nights out. But I could never wear them for day to day, sitting at my desk working, going to the gym etc. We're talking light control every day pants here. But they do have a bit of a drawing in effect, on me anyway, I think just because of the fairly thick cotton and the stretch panel across the top. Similar to the sloggi concept, from what I've seen, though ive never tried them.

Obviously there are limits to what a pair of pants can do and the effect will depend on how overweight you are and what shape you are, but I, like others, have recommended the Amazon Wirpara ones as they are a reasonable price, very comfortable so you can wear them every day, including when eating out (I wear them to sleep too) i.e no itchy lace or tight seams or really control spandex and, for me, they shape my belly in a bit and make me feel like its not all hanging out. I only have normal baby belly over hang and bloating though.

I wore m and s pants for decades before I discovered these, all thrown out now and I only wear the Amazon ones because I find them super comfortable and a little shaping, which is all I want for every day pants.

Apologies! I misread the original post that the OP was looking for a little more “oomph”. I’m not overweight though, but some dresses look better with a little extra support.

Doctorbeach · 07/04/2024 17:08

Tu full brief multipack in black

Another vote for Wirarpa. These boyshorts are high waisted, fitted and very comfortable, no vpl. Holds everything in.

ChocolateTea · 07/04/2024 18:47

M&S flexipant. The full pants ones. Absolutely brilliant. I’ve had some pairs 2 years.

JamesGetIn · 04/04/2024 14:39

M&S Flexifit Modal Full Brief sounds like it would suit. I swear by them and look for similar in underwear as you.

They lose elasticity very quickly and sag.

I think it's these, or very similar. I thought they were £7 though. They don't put everything on their website so worth checking instore. Mine are higher waisted.

Stripe and Stare are amazing - well worth the price. Having tried M&S and various others these are truly a game changer. I generally wear the high rise.

https://stripeandstare.com/collections/high-rise-knickers-brights

Completely agree, I never buy anything else now, the softness and comfort is unbelievable. I have wide hips and a big bum so it was a problem to find anything comfortable.

blackcurrantqueen · 07/04/2024 21:50

Can I ask for those recommending the high rise from stripe and stare.. how high waisted are they? Will they cover the c section overhang mum tum!
Thanks in advance

Yes totally - I’ve had 2 c sections and they sit way above the section scar.

Their sizing seems very off. 32 inch waist is a 10/12? I don’t know what size to buy.

14/16 is 1X - just use the dress size mapping in their size guide - fit perfectly and they are very forgiving, plenty of stretch - honestly so comfortable.
