Finishing products for short layered hair

After years of having shoulder length hair, I am heading towards a shorter, more layered look.

When I last had this sort of style, , I had an amazing product which helped style it once my hair was dry, and added a bit of shine. This was years ago so can't remember what it was. I do know that it wasn't expensive, bought from Superdrug and was much better than a £££ product the hairdresser persuaded me to buy. I remember it as being a bit like the texture or Nivea in the blue tub and was very easy to work with.

Does anyone use something that sounds like this? I can't imagine for one minute I'll stumble across the same product, just looking for something that will do a similar job.

Thank you

It sounds like L'Oréal stylista pixie. https://images.app.goo.gl/dvvu9k6pAgT6nYu99

If it is, it's been discontinued (heartbreakingly). The closest I've found is Aveda Light Elements texturing creme. It doesn't hold but gives shine and separation. It's about 10x the price though.

Thank you. I'm not sure I'd even recognise the product I used to use even if ot still exists, so any recommendations for similar welcome. Hold would be great, plus separation and shine if possible

The stylista pixie product was brilliant. They didn't even replace it with anything when they discontinued it.

My hair dresser blends two products so that might be an option - maybe a wax and a paste would get the effect. She also recommended I check out the men's hair care (I was moaning that women's hair care companies don't care about anyone who doesn't have long hair) because they cater for short texture better and I bought a nice product from Johnny's Chop Shop so that's worth considering too.
