Dents in shoulders due to bra straps, can this be improved?

I am shocked and horrified at the huge dents in my shoulders.

I'm nearly 50 with most of a lifetime of lugging around big boob's behind me. I've always had fitted bras of the m&s/HoF variety so better than most but not the best.

I don't think I've actually looked at myself since dc 18 years ago, but bloody hell I've suddenly noticed serious dents in my shoulders, looks like someone's cut into me with a knife! It must be at least 5cm dent! I swear this extent of damage is quite recent.

Would any exercise improve this?

Wider straps would be my recommendation! We do lose a lot of elasticity in our skin as we age sadly.

Sounds like you’re wearing the wrong size bra. The straps shouldn’t dig in at all, the support should come from the band with the straps just holding the cup in place. M&S are one of the worst places to fit for bras. Can you get to a Bravissimo?

LamonicBibber1 · 03/04/2024 21:21

I have this problem and my boobs aren't even that big. I also wear correctly fitted bras with wide straps (as per the MN recommended way of measuring lol) and decent quality ones. I think some of us just end up this way. Wide straps offer some relief. I sometimes wonder if peri has a part to play, maybe loss of fat to pad the area or loss of bone density or some other thing.

When was your last bra fitting?

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/04/2024 21:25

I have the same and have been wearing correctly fitted bras. The weight of the boobs sometimes can't be overcome no matter how fitted the bra.

My most recent bra fitting was at bravissimo at Christmas, 30G!

Possibly a new bra could prevent more damage but can anything repair it?

Sorry, no advice, following as I have the same issue - 39 and had them for ages. Really think it's caused a lot of my neck and shoulder pain, but would love to know if there's anything that can at least help the look of it, another thing I feel very self conscious of!

partystress · 03/04/2024 23:28

Feel your pain. Trenches on both shoulders. Been measured and fitted many times and the band works hard, but 32 JJs weigh a heck of a lot. Would love a reduction, but it feels like vanity b

I recommend breast reduction. It's not vanity. You will be a lot more comfortable with a lot less tit dragging you forward and down and digging into shoulders.
