Breakout age 48. How to calm down.

PollyPetunia · 29/03/2024 10:38

My face not me. I'm not emotionally distressed. Just annoyed. I was given some beauty box bits and boxes and have tried a Simple face oil thing with SOF which I thought would be a good thing to start using. Plus a bare minerals mineral veil powder. I looked nice and glowing BUT now have a face full of of spots and my face feels itchy , tight and sore. Have stopped using them. Don't know which caused it, but any tips to calm it down?
Got sudocrem on my chin, forehead and at end of eyebrows where it meets hairline as these are the worst. Pimples on head and by hair and big lumps on chin. Nice. How long before I look
Normal again and any tips or things to use ? Thank you!! I'm too old for zits. Or so I felt !

I use this occasionally for a breakout, it's quite drying but seems to calm things down quickly

The best thing I've found is my Body Shop ginger shampoo! Just a little bit foamed up as a face wash and it's not as drying as the face wash. I think the ginger might have an antiseptic effect or something?

Pimple patches. I like dots for spots.

PollyPetunia · 29/03/2024 11:21

@user14622431 do they still do the ginger shampoo? I used to love that !! Mud re order. I don't think I can use the patches as it's more like a rash than defined spots on my head. Maybe for the chin ones I could. It's so annoying.

If it's a mild allergic reaction an anti-histamine tablet might help.

PollyPetunia · 29/03/2024 15:17

Yep. It's tingling like hives around my hairline. DH just asked "what's up with your face?!!"

A cream with Cica in for the soreness. La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume is excellent.
Something with salicylic for the breakouts. Nip and Fab, LRP Effaclar, Paula's Choice all excellent.
Simple is awful stuff. Very misnamed.

PollyPetunia · 29/03/2024 22:00

Thanks all. It's getting worse today. So irritating. Quite literally 😞

Simple products are awful not simple at all

Take daily antihistamines and just keep it simple with your current routine

It should calm down after a couple of days don't worry

UpsideLeft · 30/03/2024 21:33

Do not use Sudocream it will not help it will only make it worse

Your face needs nothing on it for now nothing at all

UpsideLeft · 30/03/2024 21:33

And throw the simple oil in the bin so you're never tempted to use it again

UpsideLeft · 30/03/2024 21:35

Bin the sudocream too if you keep insisting on applying it on your face.. just don't

PollyPetunia · 31/03/2024 23:42

@UpsideLeft why so to the Sudocrem? I've sort of been conditioned to believe it's a panacea for all ills!

And the "Simple " has been said goodbye to

Try skin+me!

Theres a code for the first month £5

I have peri menopausal breakouts and sensitive skin but this has been a bit of a miracle tbh

Not sure if I'll subscribe but it's fixed this month's nightmare flare up

And yes a piriton helped too as per a pp

PollyPetunia · 01/04/2024 22:13

Well it's spread to back of my head today in hair line. I'm so so itchy but should have headed to sporner corner earlier with one of the lumps in my eyebrow that yielded a big pop

Ohhhh sounds awful op. That sounds like my allergy to latex. Do you use a blender sponge? Just a thought. I had to switch to brushes.

Maybe worth a pharmacy visit?

PollyPetunia · 04/04/2024 14:13

@Tiredtoddlermama I do occasionally use a blender but more often just fingers ! Pharmacist suggested soap and water for a week and antihistamine. My skin would feel horrendous doing that.
I'm on a mild cleanser and minimal make up. Been working at home all week so that helps with not needing a game face. I might try my son's spot stuff !

Tiredtoddlermama · 04/04/2024 15:13

Eeek yeah not soap! It will strip the oil out and make the sebaceous glands go into overdrive.

Could try aveeno or make a DIY oat poultice, I use oats to calm my skin if I have a stress breakout.

Strange that the pharmacist would say soap! 🤦🏼‍♀️ What were they thinking....

PollyPetunia · 05/04/2024 00:05

@Tiredtoddlermama they looked and dismissed me as a perimenopausal freak who just needed to be removed.
