I desperately need help.

I'm early 30s, small DC, never really done skin care but the last few months with work, stress, sleep deprivation I look really old!! My skin is dull, dark eyes, lots of fine lines, patches and just horrible. I feel old! I need to start taking care of myself.

Hair is booked in, can anyone help me with at home facials and skin care? My skin is pale and little bit sensitive but not to much. I feel like I need a crash course for dummies and looking online is so contradictory but i read through S&B and there's so much knowledge so could anyone please help me.

Exfoliate - nip and fab cotton pad wipes or Ren ready steady glow ( buy small sample boots/ j Lewis to see if you like it). Buy Hylamide oil ( purple and white dropper container) for £6 at TK Maxx ( used to be Hyaluron Hylamide) and it's fab. Put on slightly damp washed skin to hydrate it.

A coat of 60 second Rimmel clear or pale pink French manicure nail polish takes no time and makes your nails look groomed.

A light coat of BB cream every day will even skin tone up ( I like Boots BB intense sun protection one spf 50 that's tinted in 'Fair') plus a bit of lippy or mascara takes five mins on a busy day.

Take a good Multivitamin every day and drink lots of water.

Sure you look better than you think though.

Thank you! That's exactly the kind of advice I need. I'll have a look at the products you've mentioned.

I have started taking a good multivitamin and collagen so hopefully that helps. I need to make a much better effort and drinking more though.

ALso, vitamin E oil is great: I use https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CJM3VZTX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - a few drops on a freshly cleansed skin get absorbed easily and leave behind a non-greasy gorgeous glow!

I’d absolutely agree with exfoliate. If your budget is tight I get lots of really good products from Aldi ( but they are seasonal so you have to be fast) They do an orange face mask that exfoliates follow that with the blue one which is like a deep
moisturiser, I put it on before bed, bb moisturiser, concealer pen, illuminating primer, mascara and a lip balm all from Aldi. I’m 44 and people tend to put me at ten years younger.

Also drink loads of water, avoid sugar snd alcohol as it makes your face bloated and saggy.

The best face mask I have ever used is a homemade one costing less than 50p.

It was about ten years ago reading mumsnet when someone recommended using dispersible aspirin as a face mask (has to be the dispersible ones). Simply put six aspirin in your palm and add a few drops of warm water to make a think paste. Rub onto your clean damp face and wait until the mask goes all hard and crusty then rinse off. It's a bit messy so I do it while I'm having a bath.

My skin alway feels and looks fab after one of these facemarks and apparently it's all to do with the hyaluronic acid in the aspirin.

You can also use icing sugar. Put a few drops of water in a little heap. Massage it onto face. Let it dry. Then massage off with a clean warm flannel. It does a really gentle scrub and the sugar kills bacteria, so can help spots.
Or honey. Might need to do that in the bath though!

Thank you for the tips! I'm happy to spend a little for something that works and with there being so much on the market I'm not sure what is good, what isn't and what's just unsuitable for me

Bumping shamelessly for any tips on a good eye cream for dark eyes and fine lines?

Nivea soft put on really thickly always works for me to make my hideously dry and sensitive skin feel good. I did hear somewhere that it's adupe of crème de La mer but having tried the latter when I was feeling rich one day, I'd say Nivea is better.
I've also got the serum from the plantastic range on beautypie which has improved the look of my skin.
Rose hip oil also good.
Neutrogena do a really good and cheap hydrating moisturiser which is gel like and soooo good for dehydrated skin.
I never use a face mask as I've never noticed the difference with them, but use Elemis rose cleanser thingy and then clean it off with a very hot flannel.
But drink water. That's the boring truth for better skin and everything. I did a course in dermatology once (a rather complicated course involving wound care jn cancer patients) and the main message was that as you age your skin needs moisture, hyaluronic acid and collagen. You're not going to avoid the elasticity going as you age, but you can still have a good texture and glow...think Helen Mirren.

Thank you for your advice!
I'm really trying to push my water intake but after 2 DC my bladder is not appreciating it very much!
Do you recommend beauty pie? I've seen a lot of mixed reviews online?
