I'm menopausal and I seem to be allergic now to lots of makeup. I'm healthy eating as I have a big belly drinking lots of water. Trying to get more sleep. But im tired all the time and I look tired I work full-time and I'm studying and have a 14 year old son at home. Please can anyone give me any easy tips to looking more healthy.

Get professionally measured if that is the case. Seriously I left my bra off in lockdown and when I went back in, I was left sore with rashes and all sorts of shite going on. Since I now wear a bra size that fits band and cup, its a completely different story

And the difference as to how my clothes fit is just off the scale . I have a shape, not just squeezed into a shapeless uniform ( I have to wear one as well ) . As a five foot balloon, I now see I have a waist because the boobs are hoisted well out of the road

I spent way too much money buying online those soft gentle bras that are on SM. Size 14? 18? I was left with a mono boob. way too much boob under the double chin. Now I know my size and I look tiny ( well a bigger tiny then most tiny people ) What I mean is I have shape, I have boobs that arent hanging at my belly button and look twice the size that I thought they were cos they arent compressed into a dangly sock shape, up - lifted and pointing forwards :)

Springtime43 · 28/03/2024 20:59

Find out which colour is your best neutral (black, navy, grey, camel, burgundy, beige, bottle green etc) and wear it head to toe until you have got your energy back. Then you can start faffing with capsule wardrobes etc.

Thats ok-ish unless your neutral shade is camel, beige, burgundy or bottle green!

Are you allergic to fragrance free, possibly derma approved makeup like Clinique?

Do make the effort, seriously I can not say how much a good fitting bra lifts everything, hell I could run for a bus now - if we had buses where I live :)

I never went because I didnt feel good enough in myself to be going into a store and allowing strangers to see me and it has taken a while. Hence my first foray was working out myself my measurements and then trying on myself in store. 2 months later Im in a city, went to M&S, they had a sale, found an assistant, told her precisely what I was looking for and before you knew it, Im stood in front of her in bra and she was telling me where the one I had on wasnt quite right and away she went, and i came out with a bra that suits my lifestyle ( I dont need me boobs on a tray - just contained thankyou ) and fits absolutely beautifully

And yep I was confident enough to go in and do that, hairy pits and all, because the one I was wearing was a pretty good fit

Exhaustedineedhelp · 28/03/2024 23:27

Thanks all loads of tips here I.ll have another read tomorrow, and I.ll start investigating thank you. I feel better have been feeling really low. So im so touched thanks

If you're short and booby try a bandless bra, Elomi do them and you can pick them up a little cheaper on ebay.

whatsbestforme · 28/03/2024 23:46

I hardly ever wear make up
You soon get comfortable and confident without any.
SPF when required and lipsil (tinted or untinted)
Eyelash tint approx 6 weekly.
Highlights and cut as required to look and feel better.
Change of handbag.

Pippielk · 28/03/2024 23:46

re bras - look up the Facebook group boob or bust. There is a sticky note on how to measure yourself (different way to how M&S do it) or go to somewhere like bravissimo.
I ordered online from bravissimo after doing the bob or bust measuring method and then did a fit check over zoom with them as there is no store near me.
I went from a 34B/34C to a 30FF and now have bras that fit much better and give me more shape.

For me it was losing weight

Same. No special equipment, expense or extra time required, and a total game changer. No more time consuming scouring of shops to find that elusive thing that 'flatters'. No more throwing money away on beauty treatments or other expensive ways to distract from, and compensate for my body not looking the way I wanted it to. Looking ok and life in general is so much easier I wish I'd bitten the bullet and done it years ago.

I find eyebrow dye and eyelash dye help me look better . £20 every 4 weeks x

Exhaustedineedhelp · 31/03/2024 12:46

I've booked in to have my eyebrows done and I'm going to have a vit b12 injection. I'm already eating healthy I can not call it a diet as it makes me hungry when I'm not. I've been measured for a new bra and I've ordered one see how it fits when it gets here. Thanks everyone

You are doing the right things OP. Good quality food and rest make a difference.

Agree with others on:

  1. Blood tests at GPs for thyroid, iron, vitamin B levels.
  2. A haircut.
  3. Perfume can be a great lift. Penhaligon has sone great ones IMO if you can get to a shop.
  4. A weights (dumbbell) video 3 x a week. Really can make a difference!!! I like the 30 minute one on YouTube by a mother and daughter team called “next step” or something similar - very relaxing approach and surprisingly demanding!
  5. Try and fit a swim in once a week if you can?
  6. Relax and be kind to yourself.
StopFirry · 31/03/2024 13:11

Though must add Penhaligon perfume is expensive - but worth a try-out as a treat maybe! They do a little taster selection too.

NancyDrawed · 31/03/2024 13:18

There was a thread a while back that was along similar lines. I followed the advice for brows / lips / concealer and can make myself look and therefore feel much better with very little effort.

I am mid fifties, short, plump, never get enough sleep etc, so the tips on that thread really helped, I'll see if I can find it. I'm just contemplating getting another of the recommended lip gloss as it's great for me but discontinued now I think, typical!

Too darn right you are. YOU deserve "BEST" everyday of the week !!!

Perfume goes off anyway, its supposed to be worn, remember that alone if you cant get the deserving the best bit held on to.

I buy and use the BEST I can. My budget is a lot lower then so many on here, so when I buy too damm right Im wearing/using. Took a lot of time working to get hold off

I now longer have a "best" tea set, dinner set, tablecloth etc, we use the best every day. Why have stuff sat in a cupboard not earning its keep. Chucked out all the chipped , worn stuff. Might still be eating egg and chips but the plates and table look bloody good and my mugs and cups bring me joy just seeing them :)

2024horizons · 31/03/2024 19:48

I do the evening Face Yoga Expert 10 min routine. Honestly it truly does reduce the crease on my forehead.

It was a lot of ££ but I had my colours done professionally. That was definite bang for my buck. Before that I had zero red in my wardrobe. Now I wear It all the time as it was a top colour for me. The key is getting your shade of red. Mine isn't the rich autumn red, I look vampy in that. Its the bright warm poppy spring red with an orange undertone.

So that's my advice. If you want to feel fab, wear red. It's the colour of assured femininity I read somewhere, which sounds wanky but try it.
