Hollister, Gymshark, some H&M, ASOS, Pull and Bear (not always brilliant quality), Superdry.

Zara. If feeling flush, Massimo Dutti. Hoodies - branded. Whatever brand he likes.

All over the place. It depends what they're into. A LOT of Primark. Ime they all get a lot of their clothes from there - it's affordable for teens. Also a fair bit of Urban Outfitters - they like the unisex vibe of it. It's overpriced to my mind but I can appreciate the aesthetic. My own ds and his friends also like 2nd hand clothing but I personally feel quite sad at how much they're paying for stuff of questionable quality - they're trying to do the right thing and be sustainable but they don't have a clear idea of what things are worth.

My 19 yr old gets most of his stuff from ASOS, I think. He hates trailing round, doing actual shopping for clothes!

Pixit · 28/03/2024 00:34

Haha mine's the exact opposite - how funny! He can't stand virtual shopping and he ducks places that don't stock all sizes - he CBA with postal returns. His friends are the same and I've noticed that although the two shops they spend most time in are very different re price they both always have loads of sizes available - more than my local M&S does for me!

@Pixit Primark and sustainable aren’t really words that go together! They are wear once and throw away. It’s not possible to buy sustainably that cheap.

Primark sell a lot of clothes made from recycled materials. I've also never wore an item from Primark once then thrown it away.

He used to wear sports brand clothing , but is now wanting to move away from that. He will be heading to university in September.

@EmilyPlay I don't know anyone who wears clothes once then throws them away either. I've heard this on Mumsnet but never seen it irl. As well as selling clothes made from recycled fabrics, in our town at least Primark was the first place to have an in-store clothing collection point - and they've never used plastic bags. @TizerorFizzdo you know people who throw clothes away after one wear?

TizerorFizz · 28/03/2024 18:58

@Pixit My DDs didn’t but friends did. They might now recycle but I’m clubbing days people didn’t wear the same outfit twice. Not insta friendly. I would also note working conditions and where clothes are made. Too cheap and wages will be rock bottom - whether recycled fabric or not!

Pixit · 29/03/2024 00:35

Primark has same/similar supply chains as all other high street clothes retailers including M&S etc.

Cyclingmummy1 · 29/03/2024 13:37

Fat face is good for tall and thin.

H&M and Primark for hoodies.

White Stuff t shirts are great quality.

I have to disagree.. DH and DS23 both have Primark jeans and chinos that have lasted really well, as do their joggers and some of their t-shirts. When I say "lasted really well", I mean over 5 years. I have a couple of Primark cotton t-shirts that are older than that.
Their cotton clothes last as well as any other cotton clothes IME.

My daughter's boyfriend shops almost solely from charity shops, with the occasional depop or vinted purchase. As do my daughters. Some items are great, some are frankly horrible (IMO) but at 18+ I think they should be managing their own wardrobes so I don't interfere.
