Dr martens - real or fake?

Can anyone tell me if these docs are real or fake?

I bought off Vinted where she advertised them as brand new never worn, but I can see signs of wear. Now I'm worried they aren't real

The markings with size etc on the tongue are the same as in my pair purchased from Dr martens if that helps?

I think they look real too.

Thanks! The thing I'm most worried about is the inside tbh. The sole bit seems different to what else I've seen which usually have little holes around the edge. These soles don't have that. There's also some loose, flappy pieces on the sides on the inside so I don't know whether to worry about that

They look like my old docs (purchased circa 2003) partic on the inside, so I’d say they are real but she’s defo fibbing about them being unworn! Having said that, breaking in new Docs is a painful experience, so worn is not always a bad thing…

Agreed.

They look genuine, but not brand new.

Look at the cracking around the 'collar'! And the markings on the inside if the tongue shouldn't be faded or worn if they were brand new...

I think they look legit but lightly worn. Probably tried to break them in and then gave up

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 28/03/2024 12:19

They look real to me

srailfonaidraug · 28/03/2024 12:26

Yep, they're Doc Martens from one of the factories Asia. The Made in England ones don't have the very tops folded over and stitched.

"Doc Martens were originally made in England from 1960 to 2003. The company then shifted all its production to China, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Asian countries currently manufacture 98% of the companies output. In 2004 the UK Factory reopened and now produces 1% of the total shoe production."

The Doc Martens brand is synonymous with many subcultures and has become an iconic brand, but where are Doc Martens made today?

They look real but poor quality made abroad docs. I have reverted to only Made in England Docs or Solovair boots, which are far superior in quality.

ASighMadeOfStone · 28/03/2024 12:34

Remember these days there are two kinds of the "original" style. The ones that cost about £200 new and are made in two parts, and the slightly cheaper ones that are made in one piece.
(Or something, DD was trying to explain to me- the cheaper ones are still genuine, but look different slightly where the leather meets the sole)

I think so too. I would nit be that bothered though. Any softening is helpful!

Lucylaughing · 28/03/2024 13:01

@Snugglemonkey I recommend the shoe wax they do (comes in a pot with a screw top). I think it makes them easier to break in and then keeps the leather in good condition as well.

I have a few pairs in different styles, so hopefully they will keep me going for a good while! Though I still wear the socks with them!
