Fitflops sizing (particularly Rally trainers)

NormalForNuneaton · 25/03/2024 19:49

After a really painful bout of plantar fasciitis I'm tempted to try some Fitflops, most likely Rally trainers.

How does the sizing come up on them? True to size or size up or down?

In other shoes and boots I tend to buy a 6 , occasionally a 5.5 if it's available, but my DM shoes are a 5. Feet aren't narrow or wide so that's not such an issue.

I have a pair and bought my usual size. If I was wearing them with no socks I think I'd feel they were a little too big but if I wear trainer socks then they're fine. I think they may be slightly on the wide side.

EwwSprouts · 25/03/2024 20:30

With socks true to size. Do go with the Rally ones. The 'anatomicrush'? sole is way more comfortable than some of the others. I have 3 pairs for that reason, hi-top, knitted and leather.

Pattygonia · 25/03/2024 20:34

yep, I find them absolutely true to size too. They are the only shoe I’ll buy online without trying on in shop.

RaininSummer · 25/03/2024 20:35

Size 5 and true to size.

NormalForNuneaton · 25/03/2024 20:48

Thank you all.

It's so frustrating not having high street shoe shops where you can try on shoes other than Clarks

I was unsure about it but saw a measuring guide with dimensions so did that and it did match my usual size.

Playingintheshadow · 25/03/2024 21:04

I size down in Fitflops that I wear barefoot. A full size and they still feel a little big. Maybe I just have strange feet!

Lollygaggle · 25/03/2024 21:05

True to size, have many pairs of rally , the oldest being around 12 years old. Most comfortable shoes to wear. However the sandals, unless with adjustable straps) and clog types are unwearable for me as I have a high arches and I can't get my foot in.

Bigpinkslippers · 25/03/2024 21:11

If you have a john lewis, they stock fitflop if you want to try on

wetpebbles · 25/03/2024 21:11

i get mine on vinted

WhereAreWeNow · 25/03/2024 21:14

I find them true to size. I'm between a 6 and 6.5 depending on the brand. I've had a pair of the Rally in 6 and they were fine but currently have a 6.5 and I think they're a slightly better fit.

ChanelNo19EDT · 25/03/2024 21:18

I ordered a pair of rally boot runners in 5.5 and I'd say I'm normally a 5, or a 38. Actually I must have ordered 38 and 5.5 was what I got. They are SO comfortable. I can't wear any other shoes now. I have fitflop pilar boots too. Clodhoppers but so comfortable.

Daffsinfeb · 25/03/2024 21:20

I love fit flops generally and also suffered with PF for years. However I found the Rally trainers very wide and too roomy for my narrow feet.

Isabelle70 · 25/03/2024 21:41

I have a pair of the Rally trainers and I got them in my regular size 4. They fit perfectly and comfortably straight out of the box.

BestIsWest · 25/03/2024 21:52

True to size. I’m an 8. Cured my plantar Fasciitis and I more or less live in them now.

BCBird · 25/03/2024 21:53

I am a 9, ordered a 9 and felt they were bit too big, as usually wear trainer socks. I wear inserts in my shoes and trainers. Was recommended to buy Vionics, but I can't afford them. Bought Vionic inserts instead- works a treat

Cillmantain123 · 26/03/2024 02:09

If you check their fitflop website they give you foot measurements for their sizes

SoMuch2Say · 26/03/2024 02:48

strive footwear!
only sandals I could wear for years after my PF

kitchenhelprequired · 26/03/2024 04:00

In other closed toe Fitflop shoe models I'm a 5.5 - a 6 is too big except in a slipper which they only do in whole sizes. I think they are the same sizing as both Clarks and M&S, both of whom come up larger than many other retailers where I would be a 6.

Littlechefblello · 26/03/2024 04:06

Sorry to hijack your thread OP. I don't have plantar fasciitis but I'm looking for really comfy trainers.

How do people find these compared to Skechers?

BestIsWest · 26/03/2024 09:24

@Littlechefblello I believe Skechers CAUSED my Plantar Fasciitis- too soft and not supportive enough. Maybe they have changed in the last 4 years though.

OldTinHat · 26/03/2024 09:25

I have big trotters (size 7) and agree Fitflops are true to size. My favourite footwear!

Peridot1 · 26/03/2024 09:29

I find FitFlop true to size too. I’m a 7. I have Rally trainers, sliders, slippers and flip flops. Also had wellies but they developed a leak and even though they were nearly a year old they gave me a full refund. I was quite impressed.

@Littlechefblello - I think I’ve read on here that some podiatrists don’t recommend Skechers but if you don’t have any issues they are probably ok. I know my sister wears them for work in retail and she’s on her feet all day. But if you need more support then I would recommend FitFlop.

BestIsWest · 26/03/2024 09:38

I have the slippers and wellies and hiking shoes too. I live in fear of the PF coming back.

Littlechefblello · 26/03/2024 12:06

Thanks for the info @Peridot1 and @BestIsWest

I don't have any foot issues, but in recent years just can't wear the kind of trainers I used to- very flat like vans or converse are just too painful.
