Best high St shampoo for oily hair?

Tried the no sulphate thing, I'm not convinced it's any better for me. Latest one was loreal hydrapure, purple and green bottle. Supposed to be for oily roots and drier ends. Hair is oily again overnight. Worse than ever and have to shampoo daily with this. I can't understand it. Sulphates, no sulphates, you used to just pick a bottle for oily hair and be done with it. Nowadays it's so confusing. Any recommendations for something I can easily pick up and not costing a fortune?

I use OGX Clarify & Shine+ Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo every couple of washes and I think that helps.

Do you double wash? I've found I can stretch to every other day if I shampoo twice, regardless of what shampoo I use (and I've tried a LOT)

I also like the OGX range. The apple cider vinegar one seems to clean really well despite being sulphate free and my hair looks less oily. Also agree to double wash and then only condition the ends avoid anywhere near the roots.

Aldi bonded fake olaplex one is superb

I also rate Hask thickening biotin boost and Kristen Ess the one

My dream is to have hair that can go more than 18 hours without a wash!

I like the L’Oréal shampoo for oily hair (blue-ish bottle) and also l’ireal dream for longer hair (orange bottle).

Is the ogx apple cider one only to be used less often?

I have no idea any more what I'm looking for in the ingredients. I want oil removing, volumising but not drying.
I've tried a couple of aldi ones before but never found anything that agrees with me. Maybe I should look again?

I just used to use pantene classic or an apple shampoo from boots natural collection. It was simpler in the 90s!

aussiehair.com/aussie-products/shampoo/mega-shampoo/

My hair is fine / oily and used this Aussie one.

Then I started getting highlights which soaks up all the moisture.

I asked a hairdresser once and she said to avoid key terms on bottles like Shine and for dry hair. Because they had moisture

I've found that using silicone free (not sulphate free) shampoo (currently using a cheap alberto balsam) and silicone free conditioner (using garnier hair mask one, aloe vera - smells lovely and fresh)...use dry shampoo spray once it's dried - means I can squeeze an extra day out of it.

I put a bit of leave in conditioner or oil (on dry hair) just on the very ends.

I haven't found any shampoos for oily hair makes any difference.

Yes the other ones are rubbish but this one is good .

I also have regular olaplex and find it too strong for my hair but like this one.

Pantene hair biology - cleanse and reconstruct - it's been a game changer for me, it was recommended on here

Mumoftwo1312 · 24/03/2024 20:33

I used to have the greasiest hair in the world and then I made two changes and never looked back - firstly I stopped using conditioner except very occasionally and only on the tips. Secondly I moved towards washing my hair once a week. My scalp massively reduced the amount of oil it produces and now it's only slightly greasy by day 6/7. Also saves me time massively on washing and drying. I do sometimes apply shampoo twice through when I wash it.

I have long hair though, this doesn't work on short bouncy styles.

I’m resigned to washing every day. I have PCOS so it’s hormonal and no amount of trying to “retrain” my hair is going to work - if I don’t wash my hair daily I look like I’ve pulled a 12hr shift in the local chippy!

I use OGX too, I find the hydrating ones work best for me.

Same here. My hairs so fine and thin that any amount of root grease looks like an oil slick!

No amount of training helps and it's as dry as a bone on the ends

I've got Alberto balsam apple to try. I always used to like an apple shampoo in the 90s!

My partner and son both have very greasy hair and both get on really well with faith in nature seaweed and citrus shampoo. Faith in nature lemon and teatree also nearly as good. They are sulphate free. They can extend time between washes compared to when they were using whatever they'd picked up in the supermarket. My partner has super fine hair and finds it much better without conditioner. My son has fairly fine hair that's incredibly dense and does have to condition. I get him to rotate between Aldi volume conditioner (for protein) and any of the faith in nature conditioners (for moisture). Because the shampoo is sulphate free, it's important that the conditioner is silicone free otherwise it can build up.
