Will Lumea get rid of "peach fuzz"

lallaland123 · 21/03/2024 09:19

I want to get rid of very fair thin peach fuzz near my lip corners . I don't want to shave/wax it as it will just become dark and grow more or irritate my skin

So Phillips Lumea claims it will remove it , despite me understanding that this device is only for dark hair on light skin ?

Did anyone got rid of thin fair facial hair using it ?

thank you 😊

That's what it says on their website but my research contradicts it , as i read that only electrolysis can get rid of tiny fair facial hair ?

I'm so tempted to buy and test anyways but want to see if someone had success with it ? x

The facial hair remover it comes with is a shaver to remove the peach fuzz before using the the ipl. The Lumea won't work on peach fuzz, it just removes the darker ones around it

This is what comes with the Lumea in that package

Although it's also a myth that shaving makes hair grow back darker/faster. It may look darker to start with as it's got a blunt end to each hair but it won't make growth any worse. I use these to do mine once a week just to remove any fluffy hairs and have no problems

Buy the Philips 5000 Series Facial Hair Remover BRR454/00 Facial Hair Remover

No fuzz. No fuss

Lumea won't work on fair hair. Shaving won't make it darker - how could it?

Telomeres · 21/03/2024 10:36

No it doesn't, I shave the fuzz.

xxssixe · 21/03/2024 10:38

just use Veet or similar, always nice and soft after and takes 5 mins. I pop it on before getting in the shower once a month, easy and cheap

Don’t get rid of it, that’s a really unnatural and unnecessary approach. Only sharp barbs of hair are worth removing or you set yourself up for having to shave like a bloke by the time you hit 55

this made me chuckle 🤭

Thank you everyone for advise , i want to get rid of it as it brothers me .

I also heard about dermaplaning , maybe worth to get home device .

As for it getting darker my bestie said she started shaving / waxing and her facial hair got much worse so she advised against it X

shouldn't do, they have one just for face and my sensitive skin copes with it fine. could test in on your arm or something if you're worried. just watch the timer! Smile

While I agree you don't need to shave the fuzz I also don't think its true that shaving turns vellus hairs into terminal hairs. Women may develop more of the thicker terminal hairs on their face as they get older but that happens with or without shaving, shaving doesn't cause this.

Why? The old myth about shaving begetting more shaving makes literally no sense.

BigButtons · 21/03/2024 12:50

well I have had some success on the upper lip. It really depends what the colour of the hair is.

Gowlett · 21/03/2024 12:57

Hmmm… I used to be more bothered by peach fuzz when I was younger (and removed it using Immac & one of those sandpaper rubbing mitts). Now it’s actually thicker (sideburns, but still fair hair) & cropping up on my chin / neck. I’ve bought a good derma-planer (Tweezerman) but I’m a bit scared I’ll only make it worse? Might keep ignoring it…

it's very fair and thin so i don't think it will work for me unfortunately

but i had some good advice here so will try that cream and those dermaplaning thingies from Amazon

individual hairs don’t get thicker by cutting them, nor do they turn dark, in the same respect as your hair on your head doesn’t 🤷‍♀️

Dermaplaning IS shaving though?

It would kind of be great if shaving made it darker because all us fair people could just shave until we were dark enough for Lumea.

Ruthietuthie · 21/03/2024 16:38

Dermaplaning and the little eyebrow shaping things are just shaving. But they do work. And, for the tiny hairs, there isn't sharp regrowth. I had electrolysis as I had fair hair, so not suitable for laser, but also some thicker strands in amongst the fuzz.

lallaland123 · 21/03/2024 16:40

@WeRateSquirrels exactly! if after dermaplaning aka shaving i will get a big thick bush on my face i can get Lumea !

that's the plan 😂

Snort! your last post made me laugh, OP! 'Big thick bush on my face' (some people's idea of heaven, I imagine..)

Anyhoo - another vote for the dermaplaning things. It's shaving by any other name, but it works, it's easy, skin tone and texture comes up a treat and it's saved me ££££ in laser treatment. I have dark hair, fair skin and at 58, my fair share of bristly chin hairs; but the Japanese razors work very well on me, and isolate the hairs that are thick enough to pluck.

Hyppogriff · 21/03/2024 21:49

I’ve just started laser sessions on my chin and lip but only during my first session did they let me know that it wouldnt work on the fine stuff at the top lip. What’s the view on plucking this with tweezers ?!

GreatGateauxsby · 22/03/2024 07:19

@lallaland123 I recommend watching some YouTube videos on how to do it.
you need the right angle and tension in the skin and it short continuous strokes. it also exfoliates like nothing else so careful with the pressure and don’t repeatedly go over the same area or your face will be a bit red raw.

MillyMollyMandy01 · 24/03/2024 09:51

Dermaplaning is shaving - don’t do it! You’ll end up having to shave all the time.
