Cryopen for age spot/small pigment patch on face

I’ve got a small patch of pigmentation/age spot (pea sized) at the top of my cheek. Absolutely hate it and would love to get rid asap.
Has anyone had any success with a cryopen? Keen to get a treatment, am too impatient for creams and have used tret on /off for a few years with no success.

I had cyropen on an age spot which is the size of a 50p a couple of months ago and it took ages to heal and now looks exactly the same as it did before. It also swelled up and made a huge blister after the treatment, then a massive scab, I really wish I hadn't bothered.

Oh no @MissSmiley ! That’s my fear too. Have heard about laser too but unsure of best option.

I have found cryopen an amazing treatment and gets rid of age spots really well just do your research where you go.

MissSmiley · 21/03/2024 13:22

Funnily enough I got it checked out by dermatology after the GP saw it and they said at the hospital that the only thing that would work on it was laser treatment, I can't remember exactly which version but definitely not freezing or any lightening products

I had two patches of pigmentation that I believe were caused by my sunglasses as they were both at the side of my face close to the hairline.

The sr skincare products that I linked to and have no affiliation to have completely removed them permanently.

JoanDarc · 21/03/2024 21:37

@happyhearts have you had cryopen done? What was your experience?
@MissSmiley I’m also looking at Elight IPL, that may be another option.
@DrJoanAllenby glad you’ve found something that works. Can’t see what the active ingredient would be in the first product you linked to but I’m no chemist! The reviews are terrible too so one for people to research before taking a recommendation.

Hi @JoanDarc im in a similar position- have you had any luck with any treatments? Thanks in advance x

JoanDarc · 01/05/2024 19:24

@Ladygreytealover so I bit the bullet and had cryopen on a large pigment age/sun spot about 3 weeks ago.
The treatment was really quick, less than a minute all in, ended up a big lump on the drive home and by the next morning it had obviously blistered and burst in my sleep. The next few days it looked awful, raw skin and weeping, then had a lovely scab after this for maybe 4/5 days until fresh skin revealed. I’m quietly confident it’s worked or removed a decent portion of pigmentation but skin is still very pink, so can’t really tell for sure until my normal skin tone returns.
If it has worked then it was worth the blistering/ recovery, also very cheap, done in a salon for £40.
I’ve attached a wee collage showing original pigmentation, then the lump, scab and where I’m at now. For full disclosure I have very fair skin (have self tan on in some of the pics) and generally take ages to heal so I’m probably an extreme example. Excuse the picture quality and mix of selfies/ cropped pictures but didn’t think to properly take before/ afters.

I so appreciate you getting back to me thank you so much. I think it looks absolutely brilliant, you must be really pleased with that although I imagine the blister stage was quite stressful! I think I may bite the bullet too…the next challenge will be to find the best person for the job in my area 🙈thanks again and I’m really happy for you that it has been a success, it looks fab xx

JoanDarc · 01/05/2024 19:45

Thanks @Ladygreytealover hope your treatment goes well. I can recommend a salon in west of Scotland on the off chance you’re local. 😬 Otherwise, I just researched salons that offered the treatment and found the one I thought was most reputable.

Have a look at Lumecca lazer

highlandcoos · 01/05/2024 20:22

I have had both cryopen and laser treatment in the last twenty years. I live in Scotland and recently went to Clinetix . I have included the link for you to see the type of place it is - ie range of services and quality of the practitioners. There is no way I would have this type of work done in a beauty salon. The initial consultation will determine whether treatment is suitable and you should ask to see before and after photos of previous clients. Some clinics have registered nurses using the lasers

The area lasered turns white (no blistering or weeping!) after the treatment, then a brown scab forms, which falls off after a week or so. You must use daily sunblock min spf 50, afterwards.

No non-prescription cream treatment is as effective as layering, I think. More pigment spots will (re)appear over time, but I have found that it's about ten years before treatment is needed again.

Thanks @highlandcoos I was keen to try something else before laser, especially taking into account cost and number of treatments required. Glad you’ve found it effective.
For creams, the best combo for pigmentation is either hydroquinone & tret or azaelic acid but still requires a significant number of months to reduce and my patch of pigmentation was really bothering me so wanted a quicker solution.

Thanks so much all, really helpful and much appreciated! X

I have had brilliant success with crops n for both sun spots and a skin tag.
i had a sun spot that was 1cm across and although it stung to have the procedure after the scab fell off a week or so later it was completely totally gone with white virgin skin underneath and a year later has not come back. So I’ve now just had 3 done on the other side of my face. The healing process is quite ugly as they sort of swell and darken and blister before scabbing over!

ArcticBells · 16/09/2024 06:12

@MyaStorm what's crops?

ArcticBells · 16/09/2024 06:14

Is it a typo for cryo ?

MyaStorm · 16/09/2024 06:20

Sorry typo! Cryopen!

Your pink patch will lighten OP 😃
Its fresh baby skin, so it’s very important to wear sunscreen on it and avoid the sun. (If you don’t then you will trigger pigment to produce again )

Give it another month and it will look fab
