Home pedicure recommendations wanted

I am sick of the state of my trotters. I really want to start looking after them.

There is rough dry skin on my heels and thick skin on my soles. Pumice seems to make it worse. I try moisturising it but that just makes my feet greasy and slippery.

Can anyone recommend really good pedi products - especially for dead/dry skin removal and moisturising? But all welcome - foot spas, industrial sanders - anything. I draw the line at those fish spas though. Can't imagine it would be nice for them or me.

I like the Margaret Dabbs foot file used on a dry foot. Using pumice or similar on wet feet seems to speed up the return of hard skin. Flexitol heel balm contains a high percentage of urea and is very good for feet that tend to be dry.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll look up the foot file. That's what I'm after.

Flexitol heel balm sounds good too, but 'high percentage of urea' sounds like it might smell of ammonia. Does it?

The higher the Urea %, the better. No, none of them I've tried smells of ammonia; they're all quite pleasant. Flexitol is good, as is CSC on Amazon, which I think is slightly cheaper.

Use Footner socks first to get rid of all the dry skin,it peels off after a week, strangely satisfying! Then a good foot cream, plenty around, Flexitol, No7, I like L’Occitane, very moisturising & smells gorgeous. Once you’re on top of it keep it up with a foot file or pumice & lots of moisture cream. If really dry you could put foot cream under socks in bed overnight.

I find flexitol under socks in bed for a week really improves cracks in my heels

I use the Flexitol 25% Urea Heel Balm, 485g tub. It goes on straight after the shower, then socks to allow time for it to do its work. I only do it a couple of times a week now, just for maintenance, as it is good stuff. For the whole foot, I you might like to think about doing a parafin wax treatment, which you can do at home very simply / cheaply. Lots of instructions on line.

Thank you all. Going to try all these suggestions.
