Who is it for?

They are very welcoming - literally any age. Lots of mother daughter combos when I was there. I was there as an Xmas gift with my Daughter in law to be, which was really special.
You don't need to be a bright lipstick wearer or really into beauty - they talk you through it.

How much is it?

See the website for prices and duration although we did not take so long as they say as we loved the shade she came up with. They don't mind altering it until you are really hapoy, so I presume could take a lot longer

What happens?

We got there and Sasha - our designer, chatted through what we wanted, how she might assess it ( skin tone - eye colour etc) and also described the two finishes - matt or satin.
We decided to see what her idea looked like on and she blended the pigments ( see pic) and then gave each of us a bit to try ( obv different lipsticks each).
I was impressed with the way she saw my eye colour straight away and talked about why and how she was putting the shade together
As you are chatting ( bar stools at a counter) they serve you some prosecco and they talk to you about your iife what the lipstick is FOR and ( the best fun) what you will call it!

How do they make it?

Once you have plumped for a colour they melt it, pour it into moulds then ZAP it in the lipstickoreator ( it might not be called this - its a freezer thing ) in the moulds,
A few minutes later out it comes in the case looking like a proper lipstick! I am sorry but this bit was AWESOME !!

Then what?

You finish your drink, they fill in the card and you add the lipstick name. It comes in a fab gift box and I bought a lip liner as well, Lovely gift bag with a persona message and you swish out into Burlington Arcade feeling pretty pleased with yourself!

10/10 from this old fish

Fantastic £75 is a bit steep for a lippy imo but it sounds like a fun experience

are you brave enough to post a picture wearing the shade so we can see ? Xx

Can you bring the stub of an old lipstick and get it recreated ?

Have you tried wearing it yet OP, does it last well? Drying or not? Basically do you rate it as well as pre made lipsticks

iCod · 17/03/2024 19:29

Yes. I got the matte one as she said it wasn’t like those awful drying ones you get and she was right

I’ve worn it all day today and it’s felt just like my regular one (Dior)

For £75 you could buy at least 5 drugstore lipsticks in a colour you thought might work and then choose the one you like and keep repurchasing for say £11-£15. What makes this different? You'll end up with a similar shade to what you'd choose in a shop. Or have I missed something?

crumpet · 17/03/2024 19:33

It’s a fun idea for a present

Ah like an experience day?

It sounds like a very thoughtful well chosen gift and a lovely opportunity to spend time together.
Interesting to read about it

KeeeeeepDancing · 17/03/2024 23:01

I saw the shop and thought it looked lovely.
Pricey but a day out type event.

Finlesswonder · 17/03/2024 23:06

I would never go for this as I'm thinking just how perfectly tailored a shade does a lipstick need to be, and to what extent do I care? But I appreciate the write up and the fact that I'm probably not the target market!
