Post Weight Loss Dress Me!

Hey all

I've lost a significant amount of weight and am now a 12/14 ish on top and 14/16 on bottoms. I'm still losing weight, but my clothes are now dropping off me and I need to find some clothes.

I've shopped in supermarkets for ages because i didn't want to spend money on clothes and now I don't know where to shop. I'm early 40s and have no real idea of what I like. I live in jeans/black jeans and blouses/tops and love a chunky cardigan, but I'd like to try smarter/more glam clothes and more colour than my usual affair. Clothes must hide the lumps and bumps still (post c-section).

Any ideas for a mixture of day and evening clothes in terms of where to shop and some kind of style please?

Thanks

Charity shops so that you can experiment without spending lots of money.

As op said, charity shops or Vinted for a budget option .

John Lewis’ personal shopper service is good, free, and when I’ve done it three times before there has been no pressure to buy (although I did each time). You can book online and see the profile of the stylists to see which one appeals to you the most. The good thing is that they ask you lots of questions about what you do and don’t like, then bring you lots of styles to try. Sometimes you end up suiting certain styles or colours that you would have never considered before.

Well done you!!!

I'd suggest you go in person to some shops and try on some clothes in your new sizes. This will give you a sense of what looks good and what you feel good in.

Tbh I like New Look as somewhere not very expensive but with quite a wide variety. River island and H and M also good. Somewhere like House of Fraser or John Lewis often stock multiple brands which you can experiment with.

ASOS is also good (free returns) but online so you might end up buying a lot to try on and sending stuff back.

If you're looking to keep things cheap you could go on a trying on spree and then come home and find similar / same items on Vinted for a fraction of cost.

Have fun!

Well done on weight loss.

What do you like? You could have a look in eg Zara/Cos/Arket/Ted Baker etc and buy a couple of cheaper new pieces that you really like and then supplement with charity shop/vinted/cheaper stuff. Nothing wrong with supermarket clothes now to update either. Some of my better bargains T-shirts and jeans/leggings have been supermarket.
