Broken leg -- clothes dilemma!

I've broken my leg in multiple hideous places, and have to wear a mahoosive brace on it for the next three months.

I spent my week in hospital dreaming about all the nice soft drapey jersey trousers I would buy to fit over it which would be comfy but not to hospitally or nightweary, but rather disappointingly can't find much at all (Toast too expensive poss not stretchy enough, other things too pyjama-y). White Company have these (nice in colours other than white), but all the Boden ones are hijjus.

Any other inspiration? I need size 14, ideally 34" leg or longer.

Poor you Frogs! Are you ok? (apart fromyou're leg?)

Those white company ones look lovely.
Does the brace have pins? In which case you might have to unpick the seams (not very elegant I know) or wear long skirts.

Or look for some linen trousers (draw string/wide leg types).

Hope you mend up well.

I love the way you are responding to a calamity by seeing it as a retail opportunity, I admire that

How did you do it, it sounds really bad though

Are you in much pain?

frogs · 26/03/2008 18:50

Yes, fecking agony. Well, not too bad now, but I did it a week ago yesterday, and have only just been let out of hospital. Had to prove I could go 24 hours without morphine and somehow climb a set of stairs. I fell off my bike, for the record, and managed to shatter both the bones in the lower leg including a bit of the knee joint. I wouldn't recommend it.

BUT it does offer a fantastic retail opportunity, and now that I'm out of hospital which is a retail opp only in respect of earplugs and edible food) I feel the need for some new clothes to lounge around in. My DVD shopping basket at Amazon is coming on nicely too, up to £72 atm.

Please, any more suggestions for nice trousers? The brace doesn't have pins, just lots of velcro. A very baggy pair of pyjamas fits over it, but not v. elegantly. I think a bit of baggy but elegant stretch is what's required here.

Sweaty Betty ones might have enough lycra in them to hold their shape, they must do some 'yoga trousers' of some description.

frogs · 26/03/2008 18:57

Sweaty Betty, good thought. Off to check out website.

All expressions of commiseration and praise for my remarkable fortitude are welcome, btw.
