Eyelids worse after Botox ? Pic included

My eyelids seem far more droopy after my Botox. I have it as it seems to help migraines and if it helps me look better then great. But I feel like my hooded eyes get way worse. Almost like the lids are folded. I'm messaging my practitioner tomorrow but is there anything that can be done ? Will a top up make it worse. I seem to recall this last time too and the heavy feeling wearing off but right now I feel like I am one of those dolls that has to tip her head back to open my eyes !

Depends what you looked like before the botox.

UpsideLeft · 11/03/2024 04:18

Nothing some well applied make up won't solve

Fifiellz · 11/03/2024 14:17

I had this after botox. It took about 6 weeks for the eyelid droop to wear off.

I used a different practitioner and she didn't inject some part of my head to avoid it the second time but the eyelids still drooped.

It's put me off tbh, I would rather have a lined forehead than the droopy heavy lidded eyes. I look back at pics from the time and I look much older.

shenandoahvalley · 11/03/2024 14:19

I don't know the answer to your question, but you have the exact same brow and eyelids as Anne Hathaway!

Aviee · 11/03/2024 14:20

If it's applied to the wrong muscles this can happen but I have it for cosmetic reasons not migraine, maybe that's the only place they can inject to stop them.

What were they like before? You've lovely eyes.

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 11/03/2024 14:26

where did you get it done? You need to be careful as depending on how your eyebrows help in holding up the eye lids etc they need to inject in different ways. Often the pharmacy or dentist doing these processes just use the normal protocol and doesn't adjust for the individual body etc. this perhaps
There are other areas you can get Botox for migraines

Botox has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Although it is a quick and easy procedure, you can get bad results when Botox is not injected pr

I’ve had this and when I switched practitioner because I didn’t like it she said it’s when there’s too much in a certain spot and she can now actually lift them instead which I love. (But does mean I have a little bit of movement, which I think is more natural anyway.)

Lemond1fficult · 11/03/2024 14:33

How much Botox did you have? I always get my 11s done, and the one time I had my upper forehead injected is the only time I've ever had droopy eyelids. It's called Ptosis and should wear off quickly.

PollyRuby · 11/03/2024 17:34

I had forehead, 11s and a bit at end of eyebrow. I'm going back tomorrow to check in so will see what she says. It's not horrendous but my eyes have been dry today and I feel like I'm trying to open my eyes a lot

And I'd love to look like Anne! 😊. Haggard pic here sadly

Yep happened to me when I had it done a month ago.

The droop has lessened a bit but next time I'm having baby botox instead. I'd rather have a little movement to be honest.

Apparently stimulating the muscle with the end of an electric toothbrush helps a bit so you could try that?

Great user name - love it. Which bit do I need to electric brush ?

Do you have a before photo so we can compare?

PollyRuby · 11/03/2024 21:24

Before pic added. I've got eyebrows raised here to show the lines before hand so maybe skews it a bit

I think you're supposed to use the bit that vibrates! Might be best to Google it!

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 12/03/2024 08:00

@PollyRuby are you going to keep with the same clinic? I would not

@PollyRuby how is everything going now? I had my Botox 9 days ago and I hate it!! Xx

RivkaTheBold · 20/07/2024 19:28

Mine makes my eyelids a bit droopier but I don't mind as my crows feet disappear and my forehead looks much better.

When I had an eyebrow lift with Botox it created wrinkles going towards my eyebrow so that wasn't good either.

Iceache · 20/07/2024 20:03

I have also found this and I’ve not got naturally droopy lids. The Botox has flattened my eyebrows and my lids droop slightly now whereas usually my eyes are quite wide and deep-set. I don’t love it although I know it will wear off so I can cope. I’m switching practitioner though for my next go. I’ve also had headaches over my eyes which I think must be related somehow!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 20/07/2024 20:45

I have Botox to lift my eyebrows and open up my eyes. My practitioner injects just above where the 11s would be and that lifts my eyes well.

RivkaTheBold · 20/07/2024 22:14

I don't like the Botox arch. I would rather be a tiny bit droopy than have the pantomime baddy look.

Is there a happy medium?

troppibambini6 · 20/07/2024 22:33

It's hard to get the balance right I think. I've been having Botox for ages and it wasn't til I found my current aesthetician and who is brutally honest that realised that I want going to get exactly what I wanted.
She basically said you can either be lifted so you can move your brows a bit and your eyes will be more open but you may end up with a high arch or slightly spocky brows. Or frozen but for the first few weeks may feel a bit heavy and your eyelids maybe droop slightly.

shivermetimbers77 · 20/07/2024 22:45

I am struggling with the same thing at the moment OP! Had Botox three weeks ago and usually I ask her to just do 11s and quite high on my forehead as
i have had drooping before.. but this time I felt her inject lower on my forehead (before I could stop her: not sure why she did it there this time) and the next day felt the tell-tale heavy feeling and then my eyebrows flattened and sort of pressed my already slightly hooded eyelids down so they looked all heavy and droopy .. A few weeks later and the heavy feeling has gone and although my eyelids still feel a bit droopier than normal it feels like it’s gradually changing. Also, nobody else has noticed so I’m not feeling too awful about it.

Next time I will definitely make sure she only injects higher in the forehead/frontalis muscles as well as the 11s.

If you look for YouTube videos about makeup techniques for hooded eyes they are helpful.. for me I have found a neutral shadow on the eyelid crease, with a highlighter on the brow bone, plus eyelash curlers and eyeliner on the upper eyelid only, right at the lash line, seems to help to disguise it a bit.
