Love or loathe the fashion but keep the bodies out of it!

I am looking forward to seeing Emma Stone’s outfit and Margot Robbie’s outfit. I anticipate that Emma Stone will be in a LV number be it current or vintage.

I don't know who this is but very pretty dress

Looks uncomfortably low on her torso though.

LadyNijo · 10/03/2024 23:40

I don’t know who Justine Triet is, but that’s an excellent stripy suit. I also like Florence Pugh’s outfit, and Andrea Riseborough’s mad tartan affair, and of course Cillian M needs no accessory but his cheekbones.

This just reminds me of Hubba Bubba

Hallie Seinfeld ? Wasn't she the young girl in the remake of the old John Wayne film a few years back with Jeff Bridges ?

AngeloMysterioso · 11/03/2024 01:37

So here’s my round-up…

Florence Pugh/Del Core- minus the hideous septum ring, yay! But plus a shitload of lip filler, boo… also doing the weird hovering dress straps thing, is this a trend now? But it is nice that she’s wearing a dress that isn’t see-through for a change. Also surprised she’s not in Valentino given she’s a spokeswoman.

Zendaya/Armani Privé- I actually love this. Might be my look of the night. Gorgeous shape on her and love the hair too. I was worried because some of her Dune 2 press tour looks have been way too try-hard.

Ariana Grande/Giambatista Valli- just - oh my god. Lovely jewellery though.

Jennifer Lawrence/Dior - a bit dull, could Dior not have come up with anything better for her?

Margot Robbie/Versace- see above but swap Dior for Versace. Babe shouldn’t have parted ways with Chanel.

Emma Stone/Louis Vuitton- it’s giving creature from the coral reef vibes, and her stylist needs to stop putting her in such pale colours- it makes her look completely washed out. I remember one year she wore a dark purple dress with a kind of rock n roll belt to some award show or other and it was so gorgeous on her. Bring those looks back!

Hailee Steinfeld- absolutely beautiful dress but the bodice is just a few inches too low, it looks like it’s falling down. But I love the skirt and I bet it moves beautifully

Emily Blunt/Schiaparelli - think I’ve made my feelings clear on that one but also has her hairstylist not heard of hairspray? Holy frizz and flyaways, Batman…

Sandra Hüller/Schiaparelli- well I guess they’re just fucking everyone over this year

Lupita Nyong’o/Armani Privé - that share of blue is definitely her colour, and she’s radiant as always, but otherwise… meh. Love that she put on her specs to present though.

Andrea Riseborough/Loewe - umm yikes. And why take such a fucking enormous bag to the Oscars, what’s she got in there, snacks?!

Eugene Lee Yang/Walter Mendez- what can I say. I just love him and all of this. My
Other best dressed alongside Zendaya

TheMildManneredMilitant · 11/03/2024 07:21

Top was Zendaya for me, Hailee Steinfield and Anna Taylor Joy. Agree re Billie Eilish too.

So many dresses seem to wear the owners. Particularly the ones where the straps stand up on their own! Or where the hair/make up doesn't really match with the drama of the outfit.

MissMarplesNiece · 11/03/2024 07:41

That crazy pink dress in the photo above - how did she squash into one of those theatre seats without messing the dress up? It must have been a bit like sitting in a cloud of marshmallow.

There were some beautiful clothes on display - the Dior dresses in particular.

Bunnycat101 · 11/03/2024 08:02

I liked Carey, Zendaya and Lupita’s dresses the best on them. I thought a lot of the photos made the stars look a bit washed out- not sure if it was background lighting or trend for hair down but I think the general vibe seemed a bit less glam compared to previous years despite the massive dresses. Didn’t like Emily blunt’s and thought that Margo’s could have been nicer given she can wear a bin bag and look good.

Garlicnaan · 11/03/2024 08:22

Emma Stone's dress was too pale. If it has been a few shades darker and brighter she would have wowed.

I still don't get how many of them are wearing colours that really don't suit them!

LookItsMeAgain · 11/03/2024 09:07

It looks to me like Arianna Grande brought her duvet to the Oscars knowing how long the show can go on, she just wanted to be comfortable.

There was more than just Emily Blunt's dress with the shoulder straps hovering above her shoulders - I wonder is this a fashion thing now? If it is I don't like it. Florence Pugh was another with the floating straps on her gown.

Zendaya looked stunning. Beautiful gown just fitted her perfectly and so stylish.
Jennifer Lawrence was gorgeous in a dotty gown.
Carey Mulligan was positively statuesque.
I am getting very pissed off by how uncomfortable in his suits Dwayne Johnson really looks. A few more centimetres of fabric across his incredibly broad shoulders would do the trick. Also an iron or steam of his clothes before he leaves his hotel room would also help!
Charlize Theron's dress - yikes - it looks like something from the Sewing Bee that someone didn't have time to finish - I don't like the diagonal seam on the front of the dress across the bust line. There is something setting my teeth on edge with her gown.
Jodie Foster - STUNNING!!!!!!!!! I'd love to have her figure and be able to carry off a dress like that!
Marlee Matlin - Another WOW gown!
Grace Gummer is the living image of her mother!!! The dress is also gorgeous.
Eugene Lee Yang certainly made a statement in their red ensemble.
Jamie Lee Curtis always knocks it out of the park.

Can’t say that there is any one outfit that is standing out for me however I do like Anya Taylor Joy’s outfit, America Ferrara’s outfit, Amelia D’s outfit and whilst I don’t like the outfit I do like the fact that Billie Eilish has stuck to her style.

Edited

Carey Mulligan wins for me. Stunning.

Also love Laverne Cox and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

The rest were underwhelming to me.

Worldgonecrazy · 11/03/2024 09:20

could Eva Longoria be any more beautiful - she looked stunning. I believe really really beautiful women look better in dresses that don’t detract from their face, and she looked magnificent.

Jodie Foster’s dress could have been lovely, but look like it had been altered to suit her shape. It would have been my favourite if it had fitted better.

The Schiaparelli dresses looked like they got the local college to make adjustments, I think that is why they are looking so odd.

I love Michelle Yeoh but she looked a little uncomfortable in the dress.

Anyone else wishing they could get an Oscars invite just to have an excuse to wear an amazing dress?

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 11/03/2024 09:23

Jamie Lee Curtis could wear a bin bag and look utterly incredible so I'm not counting her, she looked amazing but her dress was not unusual

Margot Robbie - again, obviously could wear a bin bag but really didn't love the draping round the tummy. Luckily she's slim that it doesn't add bulk but it just looked weird to me. I like that she "let" America Ferrara have her pink moment though

KillingMeDeftIy · 11/03/2024 09:38

A fairly underwhelming year style-wise, I thought. I doubt any of the 2024 gowns will make it onto a list of the best Oscar dresses of all time.

Cynthia Erivo’s green leather dress was probably my favourite - not many others took risks that paid off, see Emily Blunt’s y-fronts!

paristotokyo · 11/03/2024 12:03

Honestly, I loved Billie Eilish, very 'her' and make up and face looked incredible. Lupita, Zendaya, Jodie Foster and Carey Mulligan also up there for me. The rest were a bit underwhelming. Oh and I did quite like Florence Pughs outfit also, even though it seems most people didn't.

AngeloMysterioso · 11/03/2024 12:53

Spoke too soon- Florence was back to showing off the nips and knickers at the VF party

Newgirls · 11/03/2024 13:07

Overall very elegant and stylish - apart from the Y fronts

I'm mad that E! Is gone Angry

I loved E! Fashion Police. It was honestly my favourite programme when I was younger and I couldn't wait for the Oscars Special to hear what they all had to say about the red carpet. I miss it.

tobee · 11/03/2024 19:24

Zendaya's hair was what made it imo
