Tu clothing

I never normally buy from Tu as I thought their clothes were a bit frumpy but a jumper in Sainsbury's caught me eye yesterday in the sale. A bright blue colour - it goes well with my black wide leg trousers and is perfect for the smart casual look at work.

Came home to look online at the dresses and I've now ordered a pink corduroy dress from there. I was eyeing up a similar one from Oliver Bonas and this is a fraction of the price.

I feel like Sainsburys might have a new buyer there as the current stuff is really good!

I've had several lots of nightwear from them.

Great! Had a few high street things shrink in the wash recently.

I won't lie and say things last forever because some things (knickers and leggings) have got the odd hole in them but considering how much I wear them they're good.

Sweatshirts are great value, as are jumpers and even coats, thicker padded ones, I haven't got them but a friend did and was very impressed with quality. The skirts I've bought - pleated midi, lighter fabrics and heavier, all seem to last and wash very well.

Not TU but I have been seriously
impressed with f&f at tesco recently got some lovely bits in there last week, bodysuit, denim maxi skirt, cardigan really lovely

marmiteloversunite · 07/03/2024 16:13

Wish the supermarkets would open their fitting rooms again. Such a pain to take home/bring back or buy two sizes and bring one back. Would definitely buy more if I could try it on.

Shinyandnew1 · 07/03/2024 16:16

Which TU knickers are people buying? I’ve been buying their three packs of black lace stretch no-VPL shorts for about 15 years and they’ve bloody discontinued them! They were honestly the best knickers I’ve ever worn!

socialdilemmawhattodo · 07/03/2024 16:30

Also a big fan of Tu. I think their buying dept has been on the money for years. I have a lovely spring coat from there - so many compliments. Nearly all assuming it was Boden!! Also great for kids (boys) wear.

NeedWineNow · 07/03/2024 16:50

I've always liked Tu clothing. I had a great faux wrap dress that I bought in their sale years ago which was always admired by my old boss (who was the most stylish and expensively dressed person I know).

Agree about their knickers - I like their no VPL ones which don't have a tendency to roll down like the M&S ones do and I've always rated their swimwear so I'm waiting for that to come in this year.

mynameiscalypso · 07/03/2024 16:55

I like their full knickers I think they're called. Basically the big ones that come up to your boobs.

perplexedbutok · 07/03/2024 17:32

i find these shops have rubies in the dust.

Very very rare. but they are there

Supersimkin2 · 07/03/2024 17:35

I’m a cringeworthy fashion snob and I heart Tu. Wash n wear never looked so good, the fabrics are sturdy and if you avoid the seasonal splatter of mustard and fuchsia, colours are pretty.

I ignore polyester & size up twice so it looks pricier.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/03/2024 18:57

I'm sad to say, that Tu have slightly become my go-to place to shop. There's a lot of polyester tat, but I have some great corduroy dresses, cotton shirts, denim shorts and jeans, T shirts and PJs from them. I very, very, very rarely wear heels, but I have a pair of velvet Mary Janes that I got from them a good 15 years and they are what I still wear when I occasionally need heels.

PepsiMaxLime · 07/03/2024 20:01

Their jeans are great, one of the few places that offer a short length.

The 25% off is usually over bank holidays.

passthepenguin · 07/03/2024 21:04

I find their legging sizing bizarre to be honest. I range between a 6-10 in most shops. Size 4 in The White Company, and yet I keep having to size up in TU if I buy leggings there. The last time I got some I tried a 12 and they still feel too tight.

A dress for £10.50? What are the workers who make these items being paid? What conditions are they working in?

photonbrol · 07/03/2024 22:11

I find their things poor quality unfortunately, I had a shirt from them wore it once and the seam split then took it back for a replacement, and it split in a different place, their socks and pants don't last either. Hopefully things have improved since I last bought from them, for similar prices Matalan is better quality.

TheOGCCL · 07/03/2024 22:13

I prefer F&F at Tesco but always check the supermarkets for gems.

Unfortunately not everyone can afford to shop in Boden though.

Mopsybunnycheesestringsnotcarrots · 07/03/2024 23:15

Hugely improved range over the past few years. Definitely!! They’ve done so much better if you compare to the range to even 4 years ago. Upped their game and paying off I’m sure.

sittingingold · 08/03/2024 03:19

I only (try) to buy kids stuff online as I don't have a big JS near me - always out of stock, so much, constantly? Why?

Singasongtime · 08/03/2024 11:33

Tu kids clothing is the best. Great quality and affordable and has lasted through to hand me downs to younger siblings and still look like new. They have lots of cotton clothing for the kids section which hasn't bobbled and excellent material. I think the clothes are better quality than M&S. I got some uniforms from Tu and M&S and the Tu ones held their colour well and lasted longer. M&S uniforms looked shabby by the end of one term! The click and collect to a Sainsburys works is really convenient. A lot of the stuff online I don't tend to see in the shops though.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/03/2024 11:54

I’ve just bought this Summer dress from Tu. It might be still in stores, but it’s gone from on line, sadly. It’s 100% cotton, cost £25, and is almost exactly the same as the one that Monsoon as been doing for a while for three times the price.

I get quite a few bits for baby DGS in there too.

RosyappleA · 08/03/2024 15:14

I am frequently impressed with their stuff especially the quality. I normally order from expensive brands for the longevity but their stuff seems to last just as well.

I’ve got Tu kids clothing for DNephew who’s 5. I wouldn’t say the shoes/trainers are great but the clothes are. One of his favourite navy rainbow wool hoodies is from there.

F&F can be good I agree. I get bits from there too. Jeans and tops are good as are leggings.

Mycardieistootight · 08/03/2024 15:36

I think in general Tu clothing is better made and better fabric than F and F.
