You contradict yourself. You say you see a bag you LIKE but then are disappointed to find out it's MK. So the bag was to your taste therefore not past it in style. It's your not wanting to own the brand that stops you. Not the design and style itself.

That's fine. I don't want an MK bag either. But let's get honest about why. In our case it's branding. You don't want to be associated with the brand. Not the look

Fair enough. I think the branding is shit. The logo stands out a mile and it looks rubbish and tacky. Fakes are everywhere. I do like the style of some of their bags but wouldn’t buy due to the branding. I don’t like good hardware so that would discount any bags with gold branding including Mulberry that I do like etc.

So tacky. And the bags.

@2chocolateoranges I have a small cross body ted baker too, I love it as it has a magnet closure! I also have a small coach cross body which may ? be marginally cooler but it falls open and stuff drops out of it.

I still like my MK bag. It holds its shape and has a nice design. I really don’t care who judges. Or maybe it gives PP a bit of mental gymnastics, trying to work out how come I’m not also orange and with spidery fake lashes.

At one time, Michael Kors was one of the most esteemed names in fashion. He designed for Celine for a time too His work was coveted and beloved by women. It was also was used for Catherine Banning's/Rene Russo's wardrobe in The Thomas Crown Affair, ((along with a few Halston pieces). I think it was the A/W 1997 Michael Kors for Celine collection. Either way, it is one of the few cinematic wardrobes I would love to own, and has on occasion, inspired my own wardrobe. Even now, almost thirty years later, I see a periwinkle blue coat and/or sweater and always think of this collection/Catherine Banning.

However, Kors did what many a designer has done before him, he licensed his name, and he opted to take his company public with an IPO. Kors made a lot of money, but to the detriment to his brand. While not quite pile them high, sell them cheap, he makes the majority of his money from handbags having realised there was a gap in the market between high street/mall brands and designer. Fair play to him. He was one of the first designers doing what was once called a diffusion line.

Back on topic, am not a massive fan of logos, so it just would not occur to me to wear his MK line or anything of his brandishing a logo. It's not even that I think it's tacky, it's more that his entry level designs aren't particularly stylish.

Edited

Well you obviously know your onions ! 😀

Anyway, I’m a little embarrassed again! as I’m thinking maybe I’m mixing Michael Kors up with Tom Ford and maybe it’s early Fords clothes I didn’t like. The way you’ve described Kors’ time with Celine sounds lovely.
