Botox gone wrong

LD233 · 29/02/2024 13:24

So I had botox 2 weeks ago and I absolutely hate it. I already have hooded eyes and its made my eyes so much more hooded , pushed my eyebrows down and I look angry or miserable most the time due to it. I feel so insecure about myself I don't even want to go out! I honestly hate how it looks. I think too much might have been put in my forehead
Is there any tips to help it go away faster or am I stuck for 3 months. 😭 I'd rather forehead wrinkles than look like this..

I’ve no words of advice but I had exactly the same experience a couple of years ago…I looked like something out of the Angry Birds game

EllaPaella · 29/02/2024 16:22

Sounds like they have incorrectly injected and done something to a facial nerve. Either injected the wrong place or too high a dose. Did you go to a registered nurse or doctor to have it done?
You should go back either way and let them know what's happened. I have no advice as to how you can resolve it as I have never had botox. But it does sound like you should go back to the person who performed the procedure as it doesn't sound righy.

I don't think this is necessarily 'bad Botox' but it can be a common side effect if you already have hooded eyes. You probably naturally raise your brows a lot (without realising) to counteract the hooded effect and a full dose of Botox has taken away your ability to do that. I had the same issue first time I tried Botox. Basically, it's better to have less with the aim of softening (rather than eradicating) lines and maintaining some mobility in your forehead, rather than completely freezing it.

The effect will lessen as the weeks go on. I think Botox peaks at 2 weeks, so after that point things should start slowly loosening up. Short-term, eye lid tape will help create more of an eyelid. Lots of it available on Amazon.

If you do have Botox again, what worked for me was to only have injections between the brows and not across the forehead. I don't actually have very bad 11s, my issue is more the horizontal lines across my forehead. Freezing just the frown muscles means I can still lift my brows, just not to the same extent, so my horizontal lines are a lot less pronounced.

@littleburn you mention of eyelid tape-I didn’t even know it was a thing! Do you have experience of using it?

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 29/02/2024 16:53

Sorry OP you'll just have to wait it out.
A friend ended up with a severely drooping eye when Botox was injected into the wrong area. Took about 4 or 5 weeks to subside.

littleburn · 29/02/2024 20:36

@Lifebeganat50 it's this stuff (but lots of other brands available). It sticks to the eyelid where the crease should be and creates more visible eyelid. Bit fiddly to apply, but effective.

I did this last year around this time and posted a thread about it - never again! It looked awful! It did get better about 5 week mark but it's a horrible feeling. I just think people with large foreheads and hooded eyes shouldn't be allowed it 😂 I also bought eyelid tape but tbh it didn't really work for me as it didn't hold the skin back properly.

Lifebeganat50 · 29/02/2024 20:59

@littleburn thank you-I think I’ll give them a go!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 29/02/2024 21:06

Exactly this happened to me!!!

It was horrible. I looked neolithic! I went back and another doctor said it was too much in the mid forehead. He tried to tick up the outer eyebrows but it was too late. I just had to wait. 8 months on I have full movement but my eyelids still look dropped.

I used to really like the frown marks done but will be anxious they try to do the mid forehead lined again.

Put me off even though I had had it done many times before.

annlee3817 · 29/02/2024 21:23

Mine always does this if the full dose is put in, so the woman who does it puts a little bit in on that part of my forehead and then reassess at the top up. She recommended using an electric toothbrush, the back of it to massage that part of your eye to help it lift, or get a massage tool that is specifically for that.

I went to someone different last time and regretted it as she put the full whack in and for the first time ever I felt really sick.

@littleburn oooh thanks for that. Hadn't even heard of it!!

gillefc82 · 29/02/2024 21:31

You need a different practitioner. I have hooded eyes but have the Botox placed so that it slightly lifts/raises my brows and opens up my eyes. Botox shouldn’t feel heavy if done correctly.

However, I’m sure no one will notice and it will fade over time. x

Lifebeganat50 · 01/03/2024 19:10

@littleburn i have eyelids! No idea how they’ll be long term, but thanks for putting me onto these!

Sallycinnamum · 01/03/2024 19:20

Same happened to me a few weeks ago OP.

When I had my 2 week review she advised having baby botox next time or she will inject slightly higher on my forehead.

I have been massaging the areas above my eyebrows and using an electric toothbrush which has helped.

I think its fairly common for this to happen unfortunately.

Pleasebeafleabite · 01/03/2024 19:30

It’s not about the eyelids and whether they are hooded themselves, it’s about the type of muscles you have across the brow. Some people have muscles that when they relax, the brows drop, making any normal hooding worse.

It might be possible to put some extra under your eyebrows (very carefully) which would give a bit of counter lift. You should go back and have a conversation.

I have these sorts of brows, and I only have very very light botox for this reason. Good news is it’s temporary.

TeeTee92 · 02/03/2024 00:51

I havent had experience with botox but i have been using this LED gua sha tool that i saw on TikTok, thats really helped me and ive seen subtle improvements even using it for two weeks.

The device has a massage feature and uses red light therapy which I LOVE as i feel it helps relax the muscles which may work for you in possibly reducing the intensity of the botox's effects on your appearance. Its also meant to help with promoting lymphatic drainage and boosting circulation. This might be worth a try.

I got mine here: https://www.vitalityandvanity.com/products/light-therapy-gua-sha-device

Luckily botox isn't temporary so dont beat yourself up about it. Hope this helps x

Tozin · 02/03/2024 11:25

You have had too much injected into you frontalis. Some people aren’t candidates for Botox in the forehead and often there’s no way of knowing this until you try it.

go back for a review and the practitioner can potentially inject your depressor muscles to minimise the downward pull you might have going on.

vibration with back of electronic toothbrush and exercising the muscle (raising eyebrows) will stimulate the muscle to come back again.
