Is this okay for a wedding?

I'd bought a bright pink floral dress for wedding in April, but just got the invite today and the dress code is 'no pink, orange or red.'

This was my back up option, but I'm not sure if it's too dark for a spring wedding? I do have a bit of time to get something else but I'm short, overweight and fussy so it's not the easiest task!

I also had a white blazer to wear with the pink dress but I'm not sure that will match this? What would I wear over it, if anything?

I don’t think saying something is uninspiring is harsh. If I’d said hideous, or awful - that would be harsh. I just meant it’s a bit meh. We cant all think everything is lovely

LizzieSiddal · 27/02/2024 22:02

You look fabulous and the dress is very appropriate for a spring wedding.

LadyWithLapdog · 27/02/2024 22:09

I like the first dress and the colour.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 27/02/2024 22:12

Perhaps the bride is worried she'll be upstaged.

Best wedding guest dress ever

I think it’s a lovely dress and very suitable for an April wedding. And gold sandals are a perfect match. I don’t think you need the white blazer unless it’s particularly chilly.

Bit ott with the dress code though 🙄

I’m with you. Also mega bore bags to dress codes at weddings 🙄

OP, I think the dress is lovely on you.

Gold goes well with green. I know you like the shoes, personally I’d ditch them for a gold sandal. But that’s just me - I don’t think the silver is bad though. Just good would be better.

No to white blazer. If you have black coat just wear that if the weather is crappy.

Looks lovely though! Enjoy!

For people commenting the first 1 is nice... they're the same dress. One is from the website and the other is op wearing it 😂

Hahahaha! I thought the same

They mean the second dress OP posted as an alternative option 🙄

OP, I think the first dress is a fine choice. Wear it with confidence and hope you enjoy the wedding.

I really like the dress and was puzzled with the earlier harsh comments. Great colour with your skin tone, perfect length and lovely cut. Also that particular fabric always speaks to me of “special occasion” wear. It’s classic and flattering. If I had received the earlier harsh comments it would have knocked my confidence but don’t let that spoil you wearing such a lovely outfit. Enjoy!

This. It’s not ‘wow’ but it’s still a really nice dress, suits the op and is suitable for the occasion (and stupid dress code). I think she’s managed to take a bit of an unflattering picture tbh. The dress is fine, especially when the op is made up etc

Uh, no. The op has posted two pics together of the same dress. One off the website and worn by a model. And then further down she’s posted another dress. It’s literally the first page of an only 2 page thread and I’m really confused how you missed her post when you’ve read the comments about it

Invisimamma · 27/02/2024 22:37

Really mixed opinions! I appreciate the comments.

I'm going to shop around for something else and also try this one on again and see how it feels dressed up with accessories.

On the jacket, they have said venue can be cold and we won't have our car with us. I won't wear the white blazer with this dress though!

The Next dresses linked are not my style at all and I'm probably too short for them.

I think the teal dress (original post) is good enough for a wedding. I like the material and style and presume it isn't as dark as your photo - more like the colour on the model?

I'd be half minded to wear the pink and be damned though!

PS I love the way some posters suggest dresses completely different from the one the OP showed. Does anyone jump to a completely different style, look and colour pallette just like that?

Helplessandheartbroke · 27/02/2024 22:42

Apologies. I clearly missed the second dress op posted

hmb255 · 27/02/2024 22:42

I really like the teal dress and it's perfect for an April wedding. I think if you feel comfortable in it and meets the dress code then there is no need to look for something else.

This. The thing with fashion sense is that everyone’s is different. Just ask yourself is it suitable, and do I like it. The answer to both of these is yes. I wouldn’t be tying yourself up in knots or spending more money on anything else

OP where is the first dress from please. I really love it.

Thanks

It was from ASOS. I bought it before Christmas and I can't find the same one on the site anymore but they have lots of similar styles if you search 'pleated dress'.

This one in Very is also very similar:
