Flat shoes with soft/non-rigid backs

I have got ridiculously delicate heels and practically any shoe with a rigid back will rub dreadfully. I have got 2 pairs of really soft loafers, which are great but they won’t last forever, so I’m seeking alternatives. The front of the shoe has to come a fair way up my foot, so that I’m not walking out of them.

Something like this:

Any ideas?

Oh no!

I empathise with you, my heels are the same. It really hurts doesn't it? I like Reiker shoes, loads on Amazon, I find I can wear them with no pain and do not have to go through hell breaking them in. Don't know if they currently have the sort of shoes you are looking for but for comfort they are excellent.

The fitflop flat shoes are amazing! I have three pairs of Allegra in different colours! So comfortable - I can't live without arch support these days - and the leather is so soft on them.

Pomme d’Or does very soft-back shoes. Incredibly comfortable, although the really flat ones aren’t great on your soles if you’re walking any great distance. Yoox always has a discounted selection - not all at that link have the soft back, but you can see clearly which do.

Hi OP,

I have Haglund's too. I've found these great for reducing friction/pain:

silicone heel guards - it depends on the rest of your outfit though (perfect with trousers).

I'm also on the hunt for some new slingbacks e.g. something like this

block heel slingbacks

I have some Stuart Weitzman loafers, bought from the Outnet - the leather around the heel is butter soft.

@stardust777

Try these slingbacks from Moshulu, really comfortable

Thank you for all the fab suggestions and @stardust777 I’ve tried the gel heel shields, mixed results, they do indeed protect your heels but they’re quite thick and can be a bit tricky to fit under tights/socks and then into shoes/boots.

In the warmer months it is far easier, I stick to sling backs/open heeled shoes but obviously that’s not so great in the British winter!
