Good experiences of buying frames & lens' online?

Just had an eye test and need to update my lens prescription. I'd also like to get some new frames but haven't spotted anything I like in the opticians. Does anyone have any good experiences of buying frames and prescription lens' online? Or am I better popping into a few different opticians to have a look at their frames? I'm a new mum so online would be easier!! Thanks for any advice

I've ordered fro Selectspecs a few times before and they've been fine. I'm only +3 now and just get standard lenses , I don't get the extra thin . My frames may look a bit cheap, but then I've never paid much .

I also use Specsavers but after reading another post had a look at asda opticians and was surprised at choice/price of frames, was much better than I expected and ordered another.

I've just bought pair off fashion eyewear website -really happy with them! They were £230 in vision express and I paid £115.

I've had two pairs from glasses direct for £16 each and they're perfect 👌🏼

I have to wear glasses all the time so the perfect pair is a must for me.

I just got two new pairs, pair of varifocals for daily wear and a pair of single lenses sunglasses for driving and being out and about

Both from Specsavers

I tried them all on online and whittled it down to about 30 frames. I have to try online as I really can not see without glasses on. That probably took about 2 hours, then I went in store, tried on all the pairs I thought I liked and got down to the pair of each - about 2 hrs, then another 30 mins for fitting when I picked them up yesterday

I seriously couldn't buy online but then I have a pretty complex prescription

Lots of them do free try on at home. Glasses Direct and Ace and Tate do I think. You select 4 or 5 pairs, they post them to you, then you have a week or so to try them on at home and post them back. I think it's a good idea. It's really hard to decide from just trying on briefly in the shop. It's nice to have time to think it over and get friends'/family's opinion.
